The Skorpius Dunerider and Disintegrator are the Adeptus Mechanicus’ newest tanks, as they’re both seeing play here’s how to make both from one kit!
Engine War is coming in hot with new Mechanicus goodies. Plus, with 9th Edition also around the corner, certain builds may become better than others currently. Don’t lock yourself into a certain kind of loadout. here’s how to make both unit options for the Skorpius model that you can swap out.
Make Both Skorpius Tanks From One Kit: How To Tutorial
The Skorpius Dunerider (Transport) and Disintegrator (Tank) are both seeing top table play at tournaments. It’s no secret that GW is beginning to charge a premium for their models as they’re more expensive than they’ve ever been. With prices continuing to go up, you can save more $$$ by building your kits modularly.
When you’re building your model, you’ll want to stop at this point. Don’t glue anything to the front of the vehicle as that’s where everything is going to be getting swapped out.
Building the Skorpius Disintegrator, you’ll want to assemble the entire top hull and turret part separately. Then, you’ll just hook it into the front of the tank and it should sit flush with everything.
Now looking at the turret, you also don’t have to decide between one of the two main weapons. Both of the gun barrels have a notch that’ll fit right into the hole we’ve highlighted on the model.
You might just have to clean up the area and keep debris from getting inside. But the friction alone will hold the weapons. You can also always magnetize them if you’re feeling froggy.
Next, there’s the Skorpius Dunerider. Like before, you’ll want to assemble the front half of the vehicle which is basically a dropping door with two sides.
Just like last time, it’ll lock in at the bottom and sit flush with the angled sides of the tank. As you move the model, the door might tip over so you might want to blue-tac it or maybe just magnetize it in a clever way.
One crucial note to make is that if you’re going to be swapping out hull parts for the two models, you can’t glue this roll cage bit in the front down. If you do, it’ll lock in whatever variant you’re using. It may not be a big deal to some of you but we’re just pointing it out that you can’t use that piece.
There you have it! Overall, the unit swapping is pretty simple and there are just two main pieces to go-between. If you want an even closer look at how we did all of this, check out the video for the full tutorial!
