AoS 4th Edition Idoneth Deepkin Rules

Raiders of the Deep

Here is the latest on the Idoneth Deepkin rules for the 4th Edition Age of Sigmar from Warhammer Community.Have you ever heard those spooky sea demon stories told to kids to keep them in line? Well, surprise! The Idoneth Deepkin are real, and they’re not just out for scares—they’re out for souls! In the Age of Myth, when the realms were starting, the Mage God Teclis and his bro Tyrion woke up in Hysh.

These newborn aelven gods, along with their divine buddies, had one big plan—get back at Slaanesh, the Chaos God, who had a serious elf-soul munching habit.  They captured Slaanesh and used a magical gizmo, the Ocarian Lantern, to pull out a bunch of lost aelven souls.

Teclis, being the perfectionist he is, tried to create the perfect elves, the Cythai. But here’s the kicker—they were flawed. No matter what he did, their souls stayed tainted. Scared of their own creator, the Cythai bolted and hid in the ocean’s depths, and guess who they are now…

Battle Traits

Idoneth Deepkin Battle traits

The Idoneth slide into battle under the cover of their aquatic magic, showing off their slick hit-and-run skills as Ethersea Voyagers. Picture this: a whole regiment popping up out of nowhere, ready to slice and dice their bewildered enemies.

When these sneaky aelves attack, they ride the Tides of Death like seasoned surfers. Their attacks evolve with each battle round, starting with Low Tide, where they sneak around under the mist. Then comes Flood Tide, where they charge forward, catching their soggy foes off guard at High Tide, and finally, they disappear like a magician’s trick during Ebb Tide.

Battle Formations

Idoneth Deepkin Battle Formations

The raiding parties of the Idoneth Deepkin have a bag full of specialized tricks. Take the Akhelian Beastmasters, for example. These cold-hearted aelves have a knack for taming the undersea beasts they ride into battle. They make the most of these Ferocious Predators, boosting their hit rolls by 1 with all Companion weapons.

Then, you’ve got the other battle formations. The Isharann, with their top-tier sorcery, can turn the tide of any battle. The Namarti auxiliaries are the brave souls who throw themselves into the fray to shield their Akhelian overlords. And let’s not forget the sneaky hit-and-run tactics of an ambushing soul-raid, keeping their enemies on their toes.

Arcana and Incantations

Arcana and Incantations

Idoneth kids are inspected by Soulscryers right from birth, and those with magical talent are swiftly recruited into the Isharann. These spellcasters use their abilities to protect Idoneth society in the perilous depths, manipulating souls, controlling the ethersea, and unleashing the ocean’s wrath on their foes.

When a swift retreat or a tactical repositioning is needed, the Lore of the Deeps amplifies the Idoneth Deepkin’s already impressive mobility. The Isharann can summon a Steed of the Tides, transporting their forces wherever they need to be in no time.

Unit Focus

Eidolon of Mathalann

Eidolon of Mathalann

When the Idoneth Deepkin need to bring the big guns, they call upon an Eidolon of Mathlann, conjured from the souls of their fallen kin. This sea god’s avatar has many faces, and the Aspect of the Sea embodies both the ocean’s soothing embrace and its terrifying wrath.

These spectral beings exude the Tranquillity of the Abyss, calming their allies and wiping out any negative modifiers from their control scores. When it’s time to shift the tides, they unleash Vengeful Waves to smash their enemies, cutting off their commands, and summon a Tsunami of Terror that leaves foes shaking in their boots.

Isharann Tidecasters

Isharann Tidecasters

Isharann Tidecasters join the Idoneth armies in battle, acting as the ultimate oceanic magic maestros, bending the surrounding ethersea to their will.

These Tidecasters can crank up the ethersea’s effects every turn with one of three perks. They can summon a Creeping Mist early on, stopping enemies from shooting anything beyond 12 inches. When it’s go-time at Flood Tide, a Surging Stream pushes the Idoneth forward.

And if any foes try to make a run for it, a Spiteful Riptide deals damage, even to those who usually dodge harm while retreating.

Akhelian Allopex

Akhelian Allopex

The Idoneth Deepkin don’t just control the sea—they also tame its nastiest creatures. Embailors who ride these beasts and tap into their killer instincts can turn an Akhelian Allopex into a brutal predator.

These Bloodthirsty Predators get even scarier when they catch the scent of blood in the water. Their sharpshooting riders, armed with harpoons and net launchers, pin down Ensnared foes, slowing down even the fastest enemies.

Akhelian Ishlaen Guard

Akhelian Ishlaen GuardThe Akhelian Ishlaen Guard prefer to ride into battle on smaller, nimbler Fangmora Eels. These guys are pros at holding enemy units in place, effectively neutering their attacks. Plus, they get an extra layer of protection from their trusty Galv-shields, making them tough to take down.

When the Idoneth Deepkin want to keep things stealthy, they roll out a Soulraid Hunt. This sneaky squad, led by an Isharann Soulscyrer, is perfect for quick and precise attacks. You’ve got two units of five Namarti Thralls to hold enemies in place, a ferocious Allopex to tackle the bigger threats, and the noble Akhelians of the Morrsarr Guard ready to swoop in for the kill.

“Spearhead” is a standalone game that’s just right for diving into epic battles in Age of Sigmar. It’s small enough to fit on a kitchen or coffee table, and you only need one Spearhead box to get the games going for the 4th Edition.

Emerging from the hidden depths of the ethersea, the Idoneth Deepkin launch terrifying raids on their clueless targets. Masters of maneuvering and repositioning, they’re at their deadliest when hitting the weak spots in enemy defenses with pinpoint accuracy. If they face an enemy that can match their speed, the Akhelian Ishlaen Guard and Akhelian Leviadon step in to provide a solid defense.
