Tons of clues are here in GW’s latest Bone Tithe video that tends to lean heavily once again towards a Tomb Kings style of faction for Age of Sigmar!

Looking at the new Death faction that we’ve been following for a while, we went into extreme detail on who the voice in the videos might be. It might be Constant Drachenfells from the old Warhammer Fantasy lore as he’s really the only one who fits the bill for “surviving the fall of the storm god’s hammer” which he said happened in the first video.

However, as more and more previews turn up, it’s got us scratching our heads.

Bone Tithe Highlights

Before jumping into the latest video, it’s important to get caught up. Essentially there is a Death faction that is forcing a “tithe of bones” for peace among other AoS factions. They trade in their dead for peace. However, some factions like the Ogors in their earlier preview, refuse to bay the tithe. A Maneater Tyrant in their video said “the pact of bones is broken. Let the feast of bones begin.”

That being said, there are still plenty of other factions that trade in their dead for peace (probably just making the death faction stronger and stronger). But looking at the latest video previews, we’ve got a good look at some of the units we’ll see beyond the leader.

Believed to be the voice in the video, (also leader) possibly Constant Drachenfells

He may have two forms now, the one above in the second video preview, and the new one below at the end of the third video;

Also, note the similarities between the headshot above and Drachenfells Lexicanum entry and backstory:

constant drachenfels

Drachenfels commanded a veritable army composed of goblins, but would suffer his first and greatest defeat at the hands of Sigmar, a barbarian warlord who had gathered several human tribes. Drachenfels’ army was routed and he was slain by Sigmar himself. However, somehow he managed to survive and after a thousand years managed to fully restore himself.

Could we be seeing another two-form character emerge from this release similar to Morathi?

Latest Bone Tithe Video:

Coming from Warhammer TV on Youtube:

The third video of the Bone Tithe series dropped and it’s called the Mortarch. The same voice is speaking in the video as all of the previous ones. However, there is some artwork in the frames, that could turn out to be new models… Check it out.

As we said in our first dissection of the Death faction, these guys put off some kind of Mongolian/eastern Asia vibe. While this guy is riding horseback with a shield and spear, his armor (helmet looks similar to a Japanese Kabuto), looks like it’s got some strong Asian influence.

In the right foreground looks to be a new “skeleton trooper”, which would look dope as a new plastic kit.

Lastly, among the hordes of the undead, there are three trebuchet/catapults spotted in the background. What might come to mind first would be the old Tomb Kings Screaming Skull catapults. That model was extremely outdated compared to what GW is capable of nowadays. It’s unsure if these might be the screaming skull catapults 2.0 or something different.

Regardless, we know the faction has some kind of artillery, which means there is yet more new model opportunities!

As for the script in the video, there’s not a lot of meat to it. The voice actor is saying how he doesn’t like killing the living and taking the dead by force, but then he’s like “oh wait…yeah I do”. and the video cuts.

All in all, this faction’s previews are definitely picking up speed. We’ll be looking to GW’s preview this Wednesday for more on this mysterious new faction and more.

What are your thoughts on the Death faction? Do they put off a Mongolian kind of vibe to you? Do you think they are different from Tomb kings? Would you like to see Screaming Skull catapults get a new model?
