If you’re an Orruk player and you’re happy with your Battletome, you might be even more happy to know that new Warscroll Battalions were spotted!
Spotted on Sprues and Brews, there are three new Ironjaw Warscroll Battalions making their way into the game from what appears to be this month’s White Dwarf magazine. The cool thing is that they’re all focused around a named Orruk that GW sort of brought back and gave support to (With that said, this named character doesn’t have his own official model and probably won’t be getting that from GW).
Let’s jump into Dakbad Grotkicker’s new Warscroll Battalions!
And in case you don’t play Ironsunz but are interested, here’s their special faction bonus. They have a little added protection in the first battle round which is solid. But doesn’t last long…
New Orruk Warscroll Battalion AoS Rules SPOTTED!
Dakbad Grotkicker is the head Boss of the Ironsunz. And while he doesn’t have an official model, he’s “just” a Mega Boss on Maw Krusha. Now, if you’re a fan of the Ironsunz, you’ll be happy to know that three new Warscroll Battalions are coming completely by surprise. Breaking down the first, we’ve got Da Bossfist:
This Battalion is pretty gross. You can technically getaway by taking the minimum amount of Orruk Brute units, but since everyone is getting an extra attack, you might as well max out what you can in the organization to reap the biggest benefit. Depending on what you’re going for, you can bring three Maw-krusha units (which is always fun) and barrel into the enemy on top of the minimum amount of Megabosses and Brutes. But you probably won’t have any points leftover.
On the flip side, bringing massive blobs of Brutes might be a bit cheaper and you’ll be getting way more attacks in the long run.
Moggorz’s Rekrootin’ Krew
This one is pretty interesting. The same way GW made a generic model a pseudo-named character (Dakbad), they also did for Moggorz. Breaking down this Battalion, it’s fluffy as hell. There’s one Megaboss and his Brutes trying to train up some Orruks to be worthy to fight for the Ironsunz.
Since the Orruk Brutes/Ardboys aren’t technically full-fledged Ironsunz Boyz yet, they don’t benefit from the Ironsunz Kunnin ability from above. However, because they’re trying to prove their worth, they completely ignore battleshock tests. This can serve as a nice secondary battering ram in your list that you don’t mind throwing into a big scary enemy unit. If you need to tarpit something or just not have to worry about your potential losses as much, a couple of chunky Aspirant units can be a nice tool to have.
Dakbad’s Brawl
Finally, this is the big daddy Warscroll Battalion that requires both Battalions above and some change. If you have the points to cram into bringing all that the Battalion requires, you essentially get another Waaagh! ability for free.
Just a reminder, the Waaagh! command ability isn’t the same as Da Big Waaagh! that eats up all your Waaagh! points. However, it works similarly in that it adds attacks to friendly units within a certain range. But truly fitting to the Ork style, all their tricks are based around being more and more killy.
And for the cost of everything, as you might’ve guessed…Da Bossfist is definitely the more expensive Warscroll Battalion (because giving every model an extra attack is really really good).
And there you have it! After looking at all the new surprise Ironsunz support, you might have to grab a couple of new kits and make some minor conversions to show that they’re Dakbad and Moggorz!
With these three Warscroll Battalions previewed, which one will you be experimenting with in your games? Will you be taking Da Bossfist and calling Da Big Waaagh! to give almost everything +2 attacks?
