Troll King

You’ve seen how to paint the Troll King with Jack of Clubs. Now find out how to paint his flowing regal cape! The Troll King’s new groove is on point.

You’ve seen the best way to paint Trogg the Troll King’s icy hot skin, now get ready for the best way to paint his cloak in contrasting and complementary colors. After reviewing the color wheel to find out what’s the best complementary and contrasting colors to the blues and reds of Trogg’s skin,

Jack of Clubs settled on a green and yellow and will combine them to create a glowing green magical cloak befitting the Troll King. Let’s get painting!

First off, Jack paints a base coat on the troll cloak using Vallejo’s Heavy Green and a paint brush. This green base helps create a good base for the greens and yellows that build the illusion of a magical cloak, perfect for the world of Age of Sigmar. The basis for this painting focuses on a color shift that makes his cloak look magical. Once the base coat is done, grab your airbrush.

To start off with the airbrushing on his cloak, Jack uses P3 Necrotite Green with plenty of Flow Improver. Since the cloak is tattered and full of holes, you will need to cover up some spots so your airbrush paint doesn’t go all over Trogg’s lovely troll skin. You can place a piece of card stock between his skin and cloak to prevent any paint bleeding through. That way you can freely airbrush without fear of ruining your previous paint job.

After airbrushing with the greens, use Pro Acryl Golden Yellow to start creating your color shift, taking it from green to yellow in a nice transition. Yellow is pretty transparent by itself, so keep your coats of paint thinner to avoid getting excess moisture on your cloak.

To finish it out, use a bit of Ivory paint to thin down the yellow more and help combine all your colors. Don’t forget to paint the inside of the cloak just like you painted it here and you will have a nice magical cloak for the Troll King!
