The Richmond Open top 8

1st Place: Mark Hertel – Space Marines (Ultramarines) Army Lists

Mark didn’t just win The Richmond Open—he walked in with three of the biggest names in blue armor and dared anyone to blink first. Spoiler: they didn’t blink.

Leading the list were none other than Roboute Guilliman, Tigurius, and Marneus Calgar. Guilliman brings the aura of a literal demigod, Tigurius warps the battlefield with psychic nonsense, and Calgar just punches problems until they stop existing.

The rest of the list was built to do one thing: follow orders and win games.

A single Intercessor squad kept things grounded with bolters and objective time. They’re not flashy, but they show up, hold the line, and remind everyone why the word “tactical” exists in this universe.

Then the Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs kicked things up a notch. These guys move fast, hit hard, and crash into your backline like an angry blue comet.

Need something heavier? Enter the Centurion Devastators. They look like someone stuffed a tank into a Space Marine and then gave it even bigger guns. You can’t ignore them, and if you try, you’ll lose something important—probably a transport or your will to continue.

Company Heroes added a bit of knife-fight finesse to the list. They’re not as thick as Centurions, but they hit way above their weight. Think of them as the ultramarine equivalent of a precision airstrike—if that airstrike was holding a power sword and quoting chapter history mid-swing.

For ranged bite, a Desolation Squad made its way in. These guys brought the boom, parked themselves where they could see stuff, and went to work. You’ve got a problem unit in the distance? Not anymore.

Mobility came from an Invader ATV and two Land Raiders. The Land Raiders, roll up like ancient war gods—thick armor, strong guns, and room for some angry passengers. They don’t need to move fast—they just need to move forward and fire everything.

Sternguard Veterans closed out the list with the classic Space Marine answer to elite threats: elite-er threats. They’ve got better weapons, better stats, and more confidence than your average unit.
