Riding Out One Last Time: Warzone Atlanta Guard Showcase

comin round the mountain 2Don’t miss this incredible Imperial Guard army that went all-in on some Cavalry. These guys were spotted comin’ round the mountain at Warzone Atlanta.

Warzone Atlanta brought some amazing armies under one roof to roll some dice. These Imperial Guard made the most of their Cavalry by strapping dynamite to the ends of their lances and charging full-speed into the enemy’s ranks.

Comin’ Round the Mountain: Warzone Atlanta Imperial Guard Showcase

These Guardsmen emptied the stables for Warzone Atlanta. While the enemy was tasked with killing a Shadowsword and its support, a surprise regiment of Cavalry swooped in to tie up the frontline.

But something is different about these Guardsmen. They all have dynamite strapped to the end of their lances for an “explosive” charge. (Pun intended.)

comin round the mountain 3While the maximum efficiency comes from the unit when they make a successful charge, they had plenty of support to back them up when it came to jumping from melee to melee.

comin round the mountain 4Just take a look at this steel behemoth. Perched on the hill with some Psychic coverage and other indirect fire, the Shadowsword’s job was to blast armor off the table. Of course, while also acting as a “punching bag” to buy time for the horses to do some work.

comin round the mountain 5Even the lowliest of characters in this list had some awesome detail!

comin round the mountain 6With a one-two punch combo of a Shadowsword and a Cavalry alpha-strike, this list was looking fantastic on the tabletop. Moving beyond in-game playstyle, such a unique list combined with the detailed display board meant Evan was flexing his hobby muscles for sure!

How do you like Cavalry in Guard lists? Have you brought this many to a tournament before?
