Read MoreWhat is Warhammer 40,000?
Warhammer 40k is set in a grim dark future where humanity faces terrifying battles to keep its place among the stars. The many alien races and malign forces of Chaos are stacked against the might of humanity.
The 10th Edition of the game will heavily feature Tyranids vs Space Marines, and they are going to be the two factions featured in the new Leviathan Starter Set ( also called a “Launch Box”).
Warhammer 40,000, a thrilling wargame that requires strategic decisions and compelling stories to be told on the tabletop, is a great choice. Warhammer games with your friends, at home, or in dedicated gaming areas.
The new edition will also streamline the rules, have a ton of new models, and make it even easier for new players to get into.
Is 10th Edition Warhammer 40k an Entirely New Version?
Yes, this is a totally new edition, as GW seems to be keeping to the 3-year cycle for editions. So, this means new core rules, models, and from the sounds of it, free rules! We have been asking for free rules for a long time, but they won’t stay around for the entire edition; just the index cards will be free…
Will My Collection & Codexes Be Compatible With 10th Edition Warhammer 40k?
According to Games Workshop, your models are not going anywhere, but your codex will be replaced by the new index cards first. Then with subsequent 10th Edition codexes will release to replace those over the next three years.
What will The First Codex Books For Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Be?
You won’t even have to wait for your Codex to start playing! Every single faction is getting a complete set of Index Cards with datacards for each unit that’s currently available, as well as their own Detachment rules, Stratagems, and Enhancements. These will be available to download online for free from day one, while they’ll also become available in the app. You’ll be able to buy inexpensive physical copies at the same time.
They also mentioned in the live stream that the factions in the 10th Edition Codex roadmap would each have a new model released with their rules as well!
It’s great to see GW make some promises about so many factions within the next year, and with a good variety covered, many players should be happy!
Perhaps better yet, all 28 Warhammer 40k Factions will get a set of datacards available for free download and on store shelves for purchase. These will feature the rules for starting your armies in the new edition!
How Easy Is It to Get Into 10th Edition 40k?
The rules look much more streamlined than the ones we have seen so far. There will even be a Combat Patrol version of the game, meaning each player can play with a single box.
With things simplified, it would only make sense if the game is easier to get into, which is a win-win.
