Start building your new army lists with the latest 10th Edition Warhammer 40k Munitorum Field Manual points, updates, and changes from August 2025!
Originally published in January 2024. Updated August 20th, 2025, by Rob Baer with the latest codex points for Space Wolves, Black Templars, Grey Knights, Death Guard, and Imperial / Chaos Knights.
Warhammer 40k army point costs, datasheets, army rules, codex books, and index cards are constantly being updated, which is probably a good thing: no one likes an eternal format.
Now, with the latest 10th Edition Warhammer 40k points update, it’s time to make new lists, as the game itself is in flux once again.
Here is our breakdown of all the latest 10th Edition 40k points changes from the June 2025 rules changes to the Balance Dataslate.
Latest Points Changes For Warhammer 40k
Starting out, perhaps just as important as the points, Games Workshop announced that they will now only be releasing 40k Balance Dataslate updates every other quarter. Initially, they said every quarter, while point changes will be every quarter.
Plus, there will also be new quarterly detachment drops for factions through the release of 11th edition, as we saw with the Grotmas detachments.
August 2025 Update
The first August update didn’t really shake up the meta too much. It was just GW doing a tidy-up on Grey Knights and Black Templars points in their codex. But then… Death Guard and Knights started stomping a little too hard, so boom, emergency update.
Basically, every powerhouse unit that’s been spammed to no end got a points hike, which is fair considering their win rates were through the roof. Even non-Knight armies were running Canis Rex because he was that good, and yep, those were the lists taking trophies.
The new Leagues of Votann codex didn’t escape unscathed either, as GW gave them the classic day one codex points changes.
All in all, this feels like a solid move for keeping the meta healthy.
July 2025 Update
This time, it’s not really a change, but GW is officially making the Space Wolves codex points tournament legal. Check below to see how the points stack up (but don’t worry, they are unchanged from last time).
June 2025 Updates
In June 2025, the latest 10th edition points update dropped alongside a full balance update, shaking the game up even more.

Full Warhammer 40k Munitorium Field Manual 2024, 2025 Points Changes Update
Alright, buckle up because it’s that time again, the Munitorium Field Manual has dropped some fresh points changes, and things are about to get interesting!
All of these 10th Edition Warhammer 40k Munitorum Field Manual points updates and changes are legal for play right now!
Adepta Sororitas Point Changes
Buffs: Castigator, Immolator, Junith Eruita, Paragon Warsuits, Retributors, Repentia, Seraphim, and even the mighty Triumph of Saint Katherine all got cheaper. It’s a good day for faith-fueled firepower and martyrdom made efficient.
Nerfs: None. The Emperor protects, especially your wallet, this time around.
Adeptus Custodes Points Updates
Buffs: Allarus Custodians across all unit sizes saw meaningful point drops. Golden demigods in Terminator armor, now at discount prices. Your enemies may flee, but they still won’t escape.
Nerfs: None. Still elite. Still deadly. Just a little easier to bring more of them.
Adeptus Mechanicus Points
Buffs: Ironstriders, Skorpius Disintegrators, and Sydonian Dragoons with Taser Lances all saw reductions, and even a detachment enhancement got cheaper. The cogboys are cranking out savings as efficiently as their murder-bots.
Nerfs: None. The Machine God smiles upon your optimized spreadsheets.
Aeldari Points Update
Buffs: Fire Prism, Shining Spears, and War Walkers all dropped in points, meaning the Craftworlds are bringing sleek speed and long-range death for less.
Nerfs: Autarchs, Fire Dragons, Howling Banshees, the Warlock Conclave, and multiple Ynnari characters and elites all went up. Seems GW remembered you were winning games and decided to tax your elegance.
Agents of The Imperium
No changes this time around.
Astra Militarum Points
Buffs: Bullgryns, Death Riders, and Tempestus Aquilons got cheaper. Whether it’s muscle, cavalry, or elite stormtroopers, the Guard’s got more cost-efficient answers.
Nerfs: Krieg infantry saw a bump, and so did the Leman Russ Battle Tank, Taurox, and poor Ursula Creed. Apparently, victory through overwhelming firepower needed just a little less overwhelming.
Old Points
Black Templars Points Updates
Buffs: Sword Brethren are the only unit on the buff list this time.
Nerfs: Grimaldus, Helbrecht, the Impulsor, and Crusader Squad all get hit with the NERF bat this time. They do get some extra power in the codex, so these aren’t truly outright NERFS, more of an adjustment.
Old Index Points
Blood Angels Points
Buffs: From Astorath and Dante to Mephiston and Lemartes, several heroes got cheaper. Death Company Dreadnoughts, Jump Pack Marines, Sanguinary Guard, and even the Sanguinary Priest all saw drops. It’s a full-blown angelic sale on vengeance.
Nerfs: None. The sons of Sanguinius are flying high and paying less.
Chaos Daemons Points
Buffs: Slaughterthirst got a cut, less cost for more fury. Just the way Khorne likes it.
Nerfs: Nurglings are pricier now, as are some enhancement options for the Shadow Legion. Papa Nurgle’s gifts come at a cost, probably due to inflation. Of bile.
Old Points
Chaos Knights Points
Buffs: None. GW didn’t hand out any discounts this round, and it’s pretty obvious why.
Nerfs: The Cerastus and Questoris Knight families just got heavier price tags, jumping up 30–40 points each. The Abominant, Desecrator, Despoiler, Rampager, Ruinator, Tyrant, Acheron, Atrapos, Castigator, Lancer, Magaera, Styrix, and even the humble Karnivore (though only by 10) all got slapped. The message is loud and clear: GW wants fewer giant stompy robots on the table, and with these hikes, you’re basically losing about one big knight per list.
Old codex points
Chaos Space Marines Points:
Buffs: Chaos Lord with Jump Pack, Dark Apostle, Fellgor Beastmen, Master of Possession, and Traitor Enforcer all got points drops. The ruinous powers reward devotion with a more affordable tide of heretical might.
Nerfs: No point increases; clearly, the Dark Gods are in a generous mood.
Old Points
Dark Angels Points
No changes from the previous Munitorum.
10th Edition 40k Dataslate Death Guard Points
Buffs: None. Papa Nurgle isn’t handing out any bargains this time around.
Nerfs: Death Guard got absolutely hammered with points hikes, and given their sky-high win rates, it’s hard to argue against it. The Biologus Putrifier is up 15, Deathshroud Terminators climb 20, both flavors of Foetid Bloat-Drones rise, Foul Blightspawn is up 15, Lords of Contagion and Virulence each tack on 10, Blight-Haulers jump 10, Plagueburst Crawlers go up 15, Poxwalkers sneak up 5, the Tallyman pays 10 more, and Typhus himself goes up 10. GW clearly wants their resilience and damage to line up with their actual cost, and with this laundry list of nerfs, we might finally see that win rate rot away a bit.
Old Codex Points
Deathwatch Points
One point adjustment, not really a NERF or buff.
Old Points
Drukhari Points
Buffs: Mandrakes, Raiders, Ravagers, and Venoms all got cheaper. The realspace raiders sharpen their blades and speed toward carnage at a discount.
Nerfs: None. The price of pain has never been so economical.
Old Points
Emperor’s Children Points
Buffs: Fulgrim dropped in points, more elegance, more slaughter, now at a reduced rate
Nerfs: Daemon Prince of Slaanesh (with wings), Lucius the Eternal, and Noise Marines got pricier. Perfection, it seems, comes with a premium.
Old Points
Genestealer Cults Points
Buffs: Atalan Jackals saw reductions. The rebellion accelerates with cheaper bikes and more insurgent bite.
Nerfs: None. The cult thrives in the shadows, undetected, untouched.
Old Points
Grey Knights Points Changes For 10th Edition 40k
Buffs: Chaplains, Terminators, and Paladins all got a points reprieve. Looks like you can fit more units into your army with the new codex.
Nerfs: The Dreadknight only went up by five points, so nothing too drastic here.
Old Index Points
Imperial Knights Points
Buffs: None.
Nerfs: Just like their Chaos cousins, every Questoris and Cerastus Knight is getting pricier by 30–40 points. Canis Rex takes a 35-point hike; fair enough, since even non-Knight armies were borrowing him to rack up wins. On top of that, the Helverin goes up 10, Castellan up 15, Crusader, Errant, Gallant, Paladin, and Preceptor all tack on 30, the Valiant rises 15, and the Warden adds 20. Translation: you’re squeezing fewer towering robots into your list, and GW clearly wants the Knight parade trimmed down a notch.
Old Codex Points
Leagues of Votann Points
Buffs: The Thunderkyn get a 5-point drop, and the melee Steeljacks are 10 cheaper; GW thinks swinging hammers is a little less scary than spamming Overwatch. A small win for the Kin who like to brawl up close.
Nerfs: The Arkanyst Evaluator climbs 10, Earthshakers and the Land Fortress each gain 15, Steeljacks with Volkanite shoot up 10, and Uthar himself gets a 15-point bump because, well, his “destiny” was hitting a little too hard. Classic day-one codex tax, and GW clearly didn’t want the Leagues rolling out with too much of an edge.
Necrons Points
Buffs: Doomstalkers, Wraiths, Deathmarks, Plasmancers, Illuminor Szeras, and Technomancers all dropped in cost. The ancient legions rise with more efficiency and fewer credits.
Nerfs: Lokhust Destroyers and the Skorpekh Lord went up. Some units still remember the burden of excessive power.
Old Points
10th Edition 40k Orks Points
Buffs: Deffkoptas, Boomdakka Snazzwagons, Squighog Boyz, and more got cheaper. More dakka, more zoom, more ‘urty for fewer teef.
Nerfs: Big Meks with Shokk Attack Guns, Lootas, Flash Gitz, and others saw increases. Some Ork toys got a little too kunnin’ and brutal.
Space Marines Points
Buffs: Aggressors, Vanguard Vets, Marneus Calgar, and more received cuts. The Angels of Death rally with greater numbers and lower costs.
Nerfs: None. Even Guilliman is smiling at the ledger.
Old Points
Space Wolves Points
The points remain unchanged from the last release, but these are now official. Meaning you can use these in tournaments and no one can complain (well, they can, but these are fully legal).
Buffs: Bjorn, Grey Hunters, and Wolf Guard units got cheaper. The sons of Russ are howling louder for less.
Nerfs: Thunderwolf Cavalry and Wulfen saw price hikes. Big wolves and frothing berserkers don’t come cheap anymore.
Tau Points
Buffs: None. Cold efficiency doesn’t always mean discounted firepower.
Nerfs: Stealth Battlesuits and a few enhancements went up. Even the Greater Good isn’t immune to balancing acts.
Old Points
Thousand Sons Points
No changes from the previous codex changes.
Tyranids Points
Buffs: Hive Tyrant, Winged Hive Tyrant, Hive Guard, Screamer-Killer, and Swarmlord dropped in points. The swarm grows hungrier and more affordable.
Nerfs: Psychophage got pricier. Devouring psykers isn’t quite the bargain it used to be.
Old Points
World Eaters Points
No changes from the previous codex points.
