These Combat Patrol boxes are a great choice for new players who are interested in exploring a particular faction. These sets are part of the Combat Patrol series, which were introduced by GW in 2019 after replacing the Start Collecting Boxes from 2016. Plus, they offer a quick and easy way to assemble a small army and jump straight into playing games.

Is it Worth It?
Well, even at the new higher price, this has some really good value inside. It also has very useful units, and even if you bought the Cadia Stands box, you can always use more Cadians, and Sentinels!
While you’ll still be lacking tanks, you’ll start to have a decent force of infantry and fire support. Either way, for the price, you save more than most of the recent Combat Patrol boxes, which is something you can never complain about!

So, you’re wondering how many points the Astra Militarum Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 400 points. This box has a good starter force for any players out there. While it doesn’t have any tanks, you’ll need plenty of ground troops and heavy fire support!

Cadian Command Squad
Cadia’s officer class are top-tier leaders, serving in some of the Imperium’s finest regiments. Trained to perfection and backed by a hand-picked crew of guards and aides, these hardened veterans demand excellence from their troops. Some inspire like the regimental standards they follow, while others motivate with the sharp orders barked out by their vox operators.
Cadian Shock Troops
Born soldiers, the Shock Troops of Cadia start their military training as soon as they can hold a rifle. Years of intense firing drills turn them into crack sharpshooters, equally skilled in steadfast defense and aggressive assaults. Many see the Cadian Shock Troops as the perfect Imperial soldiers, inspiring countless regiments modeled after them.
Sentinel
Sentinels are all-terrain, two-legged vehicles used by the Astra Militarum to patrol rough terrain or deliver quick firepower. Armored Sentinels come with extra protective plating, making them excellent front-line hunters. Equipped with heavy weapons, they navigate warzones too tight for tanks, excelling at taking out vehicles, fortified bunkers, and alien monsters.
Field Ordnance Battery
Ordnance Teams handle some of the biggest portable weapons in the Astra Militarum’s arsenal. From bombast field guns lobbing heavy shells over buildings to malleus rocket launchers firing warhead barrages and heavy lascannons blasting searing energy lances, these Field Ordnance Batteries are game-changers for any general.
New Astra Militarum Combat Patrol Rules
As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for close combat mayhem, the Karsk’s Gunners comes loaded with rules to help you shoot across the battlefield. The Astra Militarum may be all about shooting at range, but they’re still Imperial Guard at heart, rocking the same Voice of Command army rule as before. What sets them apart this time are new Enhancements, secondary objectives, and Stratagems that sharpen their melee game even more. Command Laurels Enhancement
To earn this award, an officer has to show serious strategic and tactical brilliance over multiple battles. A commander of this caliber can easily spread their influence across the entire battlefield.
In your Command phase, as long as the bearer is still in play, you get 1CP. Plus, whenever they issue an Order, it’s not just to one unit—it goes out to every friendly Astra Militarum unit on the battlefield. Talk about commanding presence!
Stratagem
One of the Astra Militarum’s biggest advantages is the endless supply of troops they can throw into the grinder. There’s always more where that came from! You bring back a fresh unit, identical to the one that was destroyed, with full Starting Strength. Set them up anywhere on the battlefield, as long as they’re fully within 9″ of your edge and not too close to enemy units.
What to Buy Next?
Well, you probably need some tanks! While having a lot of infantry is good, you really need some tanks to bolster your forces. So, you can either go with the Leman Russ or the new Rogal Dorn tank. If you’re feeling really spicey, you could even add a Baneblade to your forces.
Either way, you’ll want some tank support to help take out the enemy and add some toughness.
