Games Workshop canceled its big Warhammer previews for Dallas Open, but now the Horus Heresy will still take center stage just one day later!

Games Workshop pulled the plug on its big Warhammer previews at the Dallas Open, leaving fans hanging—but not for long. Out of the warp comes a surprise: a full-on Horus Heresy preview landing the very next day. It’s like the Emperor had a backup plan this time!

If your Legion loyalty runs deep or you’re just here to see what GW is cooking up next, here is everything we know from the weeks of leaks and rumors.

The Heresy Arrives Soon!

Horus Heresy PreviewMark your calendars for Friday, 23rd May at 7 pm BST—it’s time for the Dropsite Preview! This comes just a couple of days after they cancelled the preview at the Dallas open.

From the post and timing of the original cancellation, we thought they were aiming for May 29 (another Heresy Thursday?), but it looks like we don’t have to wait nearly that long!

Here’s where it gets more curious. The canceled preview wasn’t just scrapped and forgotten—it’s been swapped for what GW is calling an “epic Game Night.” Sounds fun, and maybe it will be.

Anyways… Games Workshop is cracking open the vault on some jaw-dropping upcoming releases and diving headfirst into the gritty lore of the Age of Darkness. Whether you’re a Heresy die-hard, totally fresh to 30k, lore-obsessed, or just in it for the paint jobs, there’s something in this for everyone.

What to Expect

The Games Workshop preview on May 22 was shaping up to be more than just another look at upcoming kits—it might just be the prologue to a full-blown Horus Heresy shake-up.

With that “400 hours (actually 399 hours)” countdown post pointing straight at May 28–29, all signs suggest that Dallas could have serve as the teaser stage for something much bigger, dropping the week after. Horus Heresy Thursday, anyone?

Let’s be real—GW doesn’t drop massive hints without backing them up. That countdown doesn’t scream “new paint range.”

No, this felt like a setup (mainly because it’s a Horus Heresy post)—lay the narrative groundwork at Dallas, show a few silhouettes, maybe roll out a cinematic or model or two, and then come crashing in with the full reveal a few days later.

Classic GW preview pacing, just with added bolter fire.

The Saturnine Dreadnought, MkII Legionaries, new Praetors—all that plastic doesn’t exist in a vacuum. A box this loaded needs a runway, and Dallas was that runway.

Final Thoughts

GW’s decision to cancel the Dallas Warhammer preview felt random, but now it just looks like they wanted to do it from the studio, and not from Dallas. This might be a shift in how they do previews from now on, so maybe don’t expect to go to big events and get previews as well.
