space marine wal hor wide

There’s been a lot of questions asked from the community about Kill Team vs Rogue Trader and thankfully Games Workshop dropped a Q&A that cleared up a lot. Don’t miss this one!

Warhammer Community dropped a Q&A sheet of the most common questions that were asked by the players. This has been a pretty confusing time between Rogue Trader previews and all the Kill Team hype.

40k Kill Team Q&A GW Clears Up Release Confusion

Some clarification was needed on a few things and Warhammer Community surely provided. You can check out the full Q&A list but we are going to talk about the major points.

Kill Team Q&A

Q&A Question Answer

What is Kill Team

Kill Team is the game of skirmish combat in the 41st Millennium. Set in the universe and using the same miniatures ranges as Warhammer 40,000 but with a different rules set, it allows you to play a game of fast-paced tactical skirmish combat in games of 2-4 players, in less time and with a fraction of the models you’d need to play a full game of Warhammer 40,000.

Does Kill Team Use 40k Rules

Kill Team uses a brand new, bespoke ruleset designed to represent lightning-fast, dynamic squad combat in the 41st Millennium. While the worlds and some basic principles will be familiar to Warhammer 40,000 fans, Kill Team’s rules also differ in some fundamental ways. Players will find many new rules that represent the intimate close-quarters nature of squad-level combat, a far more detailed and granular terrain system, and alternating activations rather than the turn sequence you may be familiar with.

What Factions Can I Choose From

GW tried to create the most realistic and plausible factions that would have a tactical killing squad as well as a slew of miniatures to choose from. They even said that if your playgroup is OK with it, then go crazy on customization. They want each model in their team to be unique to show that they are basically all highly-trained characters.

What is Kill Team: Rogue Trader

KT RT rulebook

Wouldn’t you like to know! If we had to hazard a guess, we’d say it was some kind of expansion to Kill Team that looked at Rogue Traders. If we tell you anything more, the Inquisition will have to start executing writers, which tends to lead to delays.

So it wasn’t a hoax after all. If it IS an expansion, why would they be dropping teasers like this before the original launch of the base game? It’s all very odd.

Will we be Getting Kill Team in AoS?

Haven’t you got a new edition to be enjoying?

In all seriousness, our game developers are always looking at new ways to explore the worlds of Warhammer, from the 41st Millennium to the Mortal Realms. There’s loads of cool, Warhammer Age of Sigmar-themed goodness in the future that’ll surprise and delight you in ways you didn’t even realise you wanted.

Would you like to know more? Checkout the full Q&A that GW put out to clear up the early confusion about this release.

So with everything being said, Kill Team will have its own set of rules and will come with unique factions are will be customizable to the fullest extent. We have Kill Team: Rogue Trader coming and we won’t see anything like this coming to AoS for a while.

Hopefully, that answered some of your questions. If you have some unanswered ones, go ask Warhammer Community and they may drop another Q&A post. What do you think about Kill Team? Have any better clues to what the Rogue Trader will be?
