FFG Debuts Draft Set For Star Wars: Destiny

Destiny Draft

Fantasy Flight Games has announced a new way to play Star Wars: Destiny with the preview of the upcoming Rivals Draft Set.

The Rivals Draft Set will introduce a new way to play Destiny in the form of sealed and draft events. Playing in a draft requires each player to have one Rivals Draft Set and six Star Wars: Destiny booster packs of any set. During a draft event, every player will open three booster packs and combine the cards into a single pack. Then, every player will select a single card from the pack and pass the remaining cards to their left for the next player to select a single card before passing the pack on again. Repeat this process in the opposite direction until each players has 30 cards and 20 from the Rivals Draft Set. In the draft format, you can add as many copies of a card to a deck as you want, even crossing the boundaries of morality to mix hero, villain, and neutral cards in the same deck.

A sealed event works similarly to a draft. Every player starts with eight booster packs and opens all of them, ending up with forty cards from the booster packs and the twenty cards in the Star Wars: Destiny Rivals Draft Set to construct a deck. The Rivals set is meant to supplement the cards from the Booster Packs with upgrades, characters, and events so you can construct a successful deck. Choosing to go heavy in Blue? Rivals has Anakin Skywalker as a solid character choice. Need a Red character to fill out? Lobot, Cyborg Aide is there to help. Want to build a trickier deck? Well, Ketsu Onyo can help with that. The Rivals Draft Set contains these characters and more.

Rivals also introduces a new concept to Destiny in the form of a Gray Character. If you find yourself just short of your 30-point allotment, use a Gray character. One such character, the Jawa Scavenger, costs 6 points and can fit into any team. He comes with the ability to allow you to discard one support or upgrade that costs 2 to gain a resource. He also has the Resourceful card, which is used when you spot a Gray character. It will allow you to remove one of your dice to gain 1 resource.
