Fantasy Flight Games has announced the release of the Standard and Trilogy Holocrons for Star Wars: Destiny. Let’s take a look at this update!
The Holocron Update for Star Wars: Destiny brings 2 out of the 3 new formats that Fantasy Flight Games previewed in November of last year. This release is for the Standard and Trilogy Holocrons in a pdf format. The Standard Holocron is the primary environment for competitive play and the Trilogy Holocron provides a fluid format and is accessible to new players. These holocrons encourage the exploration into new strategies and deck builds. These holocrons exist so that all players can enjoy what version of Destiny that appeals to them the most.
The Standard Holocron pdf is designed for competitive play and will consist of all products from the latest two cycles, as well as all products associated with an unreleased cycle. The Trilogy Holocron pdf is designed to be as flexible as possible for new and existing players.
It consists of only the latest cycle and all products associated with an unreleased cycle. These holocrons will provide a lists of all sets of cards that are eligible for play within the format, errata for all eligible cards, and format-specific changes to maintain balanced play.
To maintain balance in the Standard and Trilogy formats, the Balance of the Force list is used. Said list temporarily applies format-specific adjustments to the point costs for select characters. These adjustments will differ between formats to provide distinct combos and play styles. Being pdfs, the Holocrons will be easy to update and are to be treated as living documents. FFG will announce if any changes need to be made on the first weekday of every month.
The Standard and Trilogy Holocrons will go into effect on February 1st, 2018 with the launch of the Legacies set. Be sure to visit the Star Wars: Destiny page to see the full product and rules listings.
