Knight Models has given us a few teasers for Batman 2nd Edition and a preview of the new Joker models coming in September.
Knight Models was founded in 2008. Since the beginning of the company they have been teamed up with Marvel Entertainment Inc. and DC Universe, putting out amazing miniatures for both franchises. They have released several teasers for the new Batman Miniatures Game 2nd Edition. They have also teased an image of the new Joker crew that is coming in September.
Joker Crew:
The new Joker Crew sculpts look absolutely great and are set to appear on Knight Models’ on-line store in September. Now, lets see what Knight Models had to tease for Batman 2nd Edition:
To begin with, we have decided to restructure the crews that currently exist in the game. While the configuration of a crew will remain the same with regards to Bosses, Sidekicks, Free Agents, etc., we want to make a more dynamic approach, so that players can more intuitively form alliances between like-minded heroes and villains.. Do you want to see how Spartan and Gordon work together? Or check if the Two-Face and Black Mask thugs can team up without resorting to infighting? Keep reading! For example, where once we had three similar crews – Batman, Green Arrow, and Law Forces – we now have one single crew: The Brave and the Bold. These crime-fighters stand ready to protect the streets of Gotham, Central City or Star City at a moment’s notice, and often work together. By removing the need for specific Affiliates, players will be able to team the Flash (New 52) with Arrow (TV Series) freely, or have Nightwing as a crew’s Boss and Aaron Cash as a Sidekick.
While some players will undoubtedly choose to theme their forces to specific affiliations or even storylines, we think the new rules will allow players much greater freedom to tell their own stories of Batman’s world, their own way. In our second new-look crew showcase, we take a look at some more crews that have undergone some changes. The Poison Ivy crew has been renamed the Gotham City Sirens, allowing a much greater variety of thematic options within the game. The 2nd edition launch will include several starter sets, one of which will be an excellent example of this deadly new crew, containing the three Arkham City versions of the Sirens – Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Catwoman (even if that union is a little crazy!).
Organized Crime has undergone a major overhaul, increasing its options and allowing several powerful alliance. This faction brings together Gotham’s greatest mobsters from the existing Organized Crime crew, Two-Face, Black Mask and Lex Corp. Although these crime-bosses frequently squabble, they’re also united in their lust for power and wealth, and their hatred for Batman. With the new Organized Crime Affiliation, new alliances emerge, allowing for characters such as Hugo Strange to join with Two-Face, or for Black Mask to call in the Penguin (Gotham TV Series) to help him attend to his ‘business matters’. Finally, in an effort to add variety to the ranks of Gotham’s freaks, we’ve decided to change the Mad Hatter’s Rank from Leader to Free Agent, allowing this manic milliner to align himself with any number of villainous crews. As a stalwart of Batman’s rogue’s gallery, the Mad Hatter also gains the Hates: Brave and the Bold trait, cementing his place as one of Gotham’s most wanted. “But what about his crew?” we hear you cry! Fear not – all of the Mad Hatter’s gang get the Organized Crime Affiliation. In addition, Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee keep Affiliation: Joker, while White Rabbit keeps Affiliation: Bane.
The most significant and important change is that we have changed the measurement system from centimeters to inches (marked with the symbol “), which is one of the most used measurement systems in miniature games and we want the most comfort for our players. Before, a normal model moved 10 centimeters and could see another enemy in the night of Gotham at 30 cm; now it will move 4” and will see at 12”. In the previous Edition, the Action Counters assigned on a model to the Movement Skill (called MC) could be used to throw six-sided dices and add the results to its basic movement distance, being an interesting randomize option but makes feel the game complicated. Now the system has been simplified so that, for each MC spent, the model adds 2″ to its basic movement distance. With this change you will know exactly how far you will move in youractivation, being able to accurately calculate your moves and making the enemy know how far the danger is lurking!
By spending 1MC, a model can jump in any direction as Impaired Movement (so it counts as double the actual distance measured). Jumping is always measured from a model’s base. The total distance is subtracted from the remaining basic movement distance (BMD) as normal. However, as long as you have enough movement remaining, and enough MC to spend, you can jump as many times as you like during an activation. When moving directly downwards using Leap Down, the movement distance is not considered Impaired – you simply measure from the model’s base to the new position. Sometimes, an obstacle will be too high to jump, and it will need to be climbed instead. Climb distances are measured from the base, without spending any MC to climb, so it’s not too detrimental to scramble over a tall fence and keep moving. Finally, we’ve made some changes to the Crouch action to make it more useful. A model will remain crouched until it moves (voluntarily or not). While it is crouched behind scenery, it gains a defensive bonus from enemy ranged attacks.
There are the teasers for Batman 2E Miniatures Game. Knight Models is definitely making large strides to streamline the game and add more combat options for players to explore.
Are you liking these teasers so far? Any changes you hope to see made by Knight Models?
