3 New Age of Sigmar Starters & McFarlane 40k: First Look

By Rob Baer | July 24th, 2021 | Categories: Warhammer 40k Rumors

New AoS starters sets are here along with the official GW release of the McFarlane 40k action figures– check out the pricing for this week’s pre-orders.

If you remember the Indomitus boxes released after the main box, these AoS starters almost follow the exact same pattern. With how many extra of all the Dominion boxes are out there on store shelves, we don’t expect these to be too heavily allocated.

AoS 3.0 Warrior Starter Set $50

aos 3.0 warrior starter

This is the smallest starter, thus making it the cheapest. Perfect for newcomers who want to test out smaller games before committing to the included armies or even to AoS in general.

AoS 3.0 Harbinger Starter Set $99

aos 3.0 harbinger starter

This version is the middle in size and cost. It might be a good pick if you really like the factions but aren’t too keen on making your own terrain. This brings us the most expensive version…

AoS 3.0 Extremis Starter Set $165

This starter is going to be the most expensive and the biggest difference is the inclusion of the new terrain set for AoS 3.0. If you love the factions, and AoS in general, this is a great option.

Kruleboyz Paint Set $35

orruk paintsetThis set contains 6 great paints to help you get started on a Kruleboyz or even just Orruk army. Of course, there is also a brush, but you may want to pick up one or two more for the best experience.

Stormcast Paint Set $35

Mirroring the Kruleboyz is the Stormcast, with the major difference being this comes with 2 instead of 3 figures, and of course different paint.

AoS 3.0 Paint and Tool Set $45

This set comes with more paint but no models and a clipper and shaving tool. This is ideal if you are also picking up one of the starter boxes as it will get you started on painting them both!

Age of Sigmar Realmscape Expansion Set $90

Realmscape Expansion SetAs the terrain included in the Extremis starter set, this terrain makes for a perfect environment for AoS 3.0 and especially setting the scene for Stormcast vs Kruleboyz.  It also does not appear to have the shrine terrain piece that comes in the Extremis version of the starter above.

Getting Started With Warhammer Age of Sigmar $15

Indomitus Book $16

indomitus bookNext week, Indomitus by Gav Thorpe is available to pre-order in paperback. The first novel set in the most recent edition of Warhammer 40,000, Indomitus sees the Ultramarines faced with a dire choice – will they fight a desperate last stand or doom an entire sector to warn the Imperium of the rise of a new Necron empire?

As the main book covering the happenings of the jump into 9th edition 40k, this is a great book if you are invested in that space as well.

Thunderstrike & Other Stories $8

Meanwhile, in the Age of Sigmar, you can tour the realms in the safe hands of some of Black Library’s finest writers with the anthology Thunderstrike & Other Stories. The perfect introduction to the Mortal Realms and its inhabitants – both good and bad – this book collects works by authors including David Guymer, Gav Thorpe, Darius Hinks, David Annandale, and more.

In line with the AoS starters, this book serves as a good lore point of entry. Filled with a variety of short stories, these are going to be easy to read and won’t require too much time to enjoy some great story points.
