The Chaos Space Marine Legion Tactics are in this month’s White Dwarf, but there is one little catch. Let’s take a look, and be sure to bring the salt.

Appearing on the Bolter and Chainsword forums, a listing of the deciphered Chaos Space Marines Legion Traits seen from an image in August’s White Dwarf. We say deciphered since the image in question is extremely small in the White Dwarf article. However, it may ring with some truth as it appears to have been circulating before the Emperor’s Children teaser by Games Workshop gave us their Legion trait.

But for now, all of this is a rumor, we believe the pictures are real, but there could have been some issues in the reading due to how small the photo actually is.

White Dwarf Chaos Tactics

As you can see, it took some pain-staking dedication, pixel-reader, and the destruction of one’s eyesight to give us an idea of what the Chaos Legions’ tactics might be. Below is a zoomed in picture of the french WD picture just to give you an idea of how much actually went into reading these.

And now, for the new Faction Special Rules, which again may have been transcribed slightly inaccurately from the zoomed in and French version above:

  • Night Lords: -1 Leadership for each NL unit within 6″ of the enemy. This stacks to a minimum of 1 Leadership for the enemy.
  • Word Bearers: Re-roll failed Moral checks.
  • Emperor’s Children: Always strike first.
  • Black Legion: +1 Leadership and can always advance and shoot/gain bonuses/or no modifiers to advancing and shooting. (Poster was unclear which one)
  • Iron Warriors: Possibly negating cover or gaining better cover when in cover.
  • Alpha Legion: Scout ability – (Like deepstrike but 12″ away from enemy units).
  • Renegade Chapters: Sadly unreadable.
  • World Eaters: When a unit with this trait makes a successful charge, you can make one additional attack with each model in the unit.
  • An addition: It appears that all Chaos Legions get the same Objective Secured ability that Loyalists have.

Though, some of the traits were not clear enough to read, we still got a great idea on what the special rules are going to look like. Once again, this is a rumor, so don’t take it as concrete until we here something from Games Workshop. Be sure to check back with us daily, as we will be looking for any more information on the upcoming Grey Knights and Chaos Space Marines codices.
