A New Set Symbol Has Entered the Rotation in MCP

sentinel-new-model-rules-marvel-crisis-protocolA new set symbol has entered the rotation in MCP, which lets new cards into Standard Play- check out what’s changing!

Back in June, AMG promised new set symbols would enter the game, and it’s good to see them adding the changes hit standard play. This is mainly to accommodate the new Sentinels team tactics cards, but it also looks like nothing is rotating out right now, so no worries about your lists losing models.

Let’s first check out the timeline from AMG, then get into the new changes.

The Timeline System

Challenger Events are the return of the Timeline system that was originally discussed in Organized Play kits way back at the launch of the game, but never previously utilized. Timelines are used in Organized Play events to limit those events to specific sets that curate different experiences for players. Challenger Events are launching with two different Timelines to choose from – Standard and Extended. Standard Timeline events allow all characters and Crisis Cards, but only Team Tactic Cards and Infinity Gems that have the set symbols seen here.

This will let you play more wild format games or more controlled games. This will let them limit what can be used in these types of events, and make the games more competitive. While keeping the fun games out there without all this. However, as of right now, it just looks like they are adding symbols instead of removing them.

The Standard Timeline is curated for the best possible player experience – removing problematic cards and restricting powerful options to bring balance to the game. The Extended Timeline uses all the Characters, Crisis, and Team Tactic Cards that have ever been made for Crisis Protocol. This Timeline is totally unrestricted, allowing players to truly test the limits of their Roster-building mayhem!

As we said, this is really cool if you want to play an insane and wild game with your friends; just use the extended timeline (well, when it starts getting really changed up a lot). But when it comes to tournaments, this will allow them to keep the game much more competitive.

Plus, this will let them make entire timelines and curtail games into timeliness which will be more controlled, and more thematic at the same time.

A New Set Symbol Has Entered the Rotation in MCP

MCP Set Symbols

This is the new timeline, and you can see there is a new symbol filled in! This is for the Sentinels, but as of right now, they are ready for tournaments and standard games. Obviously, we expected them to add them, as it would be a pretty lame release if you couldn’t use them in standard games.

Sentinel Tactic Cards 2As you can see, the corner in the bottom right has the new symbol. So, you are good to add them to your list! This is really the only change as of right now, but you can see the whole thing here.

Do you like the idea of the timeline and that standard can change around a lot (potentially)?
