AMG has delayed the Star Wars Legion update but also cleared the air on why they did it, which is a good thing for the game overall…
Too often, we see game companies rush updates out to meet certain deadlines, and while having a goal is a good thing, it’s also better for the game’s long-term health if companies take the time and make the correct updates, FAQs, and changes to any game.
Obviously, it’s a bit of a bummer not to see points and maybe miss something new for a tournament. Still, luckily, they are keeping an open line of communication for everything that’s going on instead of leaving us in the dark!
AMG Clears the Air on Star Wars Legion Update Delay
They started what is called the Studio Communications Round-Up, and we wish more big companies did this because having a reason behind the decisions really helps everything go over easier, instead of being in the dark. So, here’s why they delayed the Star Wars Legion stuff.
Why didn’t you drop points updates for all the STAR WARS games May 4th?
Our goal is to make thoughtful changes and updates to the games in our roster. This means that they will not be set on an arbitrary regular schedule. We recognize that this may be a change of pace for some, so we wanted to clarify our intention officially. When we said “the new season kicks off on May 4th,” we did not intentionally imply there would be points updates for all of the games. We simply aimed to state that it’s when Store Tournament Kit events and WOQ events for the new season begin.
Again, it is a bummer, and we also probably thought there would be an update on the 4th, but it’s nice to see them taking the time to make thoughtful changes to the game instead of rushing out an update that isn’t well thought out.
If the new season started May 4th, then when will you announce all the official events for the year?
We are compiling regional qualifier dates as we speak and will have them out to the community as soon as venues are confirmed. We’ll work to ensure that we have this information available ahead of the season in the future.
Let’s hope they do get the tournaments ahead of time in the future, but at least they are willing to admit that.
Where is the STAR WARS: Legion points update?
We hear you! Originally we intended to get this out by the end of May – however things happen and there are several checkpoints along the road to getting content into your hands. We have run into a delay, but it is still coming and we wanted to let you know that there will not be an update prior to UKGE.
My event is coming! How will there be time to prepare if the points drop late?
We aim to enforce a two-week delay from when points drop to when they become legal in competition, allowing everyone a chance to experiment with list building plus acquire and paint up any new units if applicable.
Two weeks isn’t a super long time to get your list ready, but it should be enough if you can go out and get some test games in with your friends before the event.
Where is the STAR WARS: Armada Prizing Announcement for World Open Qualifiers?
This has also experienced some delays and we will post this transmission as soon as we are cleared to do so. We recognize this may be a disappointment to those getting ready to compete, but there will be prizing.
Last but not least, they did give us a quick update on Armada, and if Legion is delayed, we aren’t too surprised to see Armada delayed as well.
What do you think about the new community round-up and update for Star Wars Legion from Atomic Mass Games?
