The Dawn of Vår II tournament happened over the weekend and these Astartes-based Warhammer 40k army lists took some of the top spots!
The tournament is over and now we’re able to look at which lists managed to secure a place at the top! Check out what these winners brought in their armies.
Dawn Of Vår II: Top 40k Army Lists
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below. Note: The 1st place is an error, all others should be moved up one IE 2nd = 1st, 3rd = 2nd, etc.
3rd Place: Are Velo – Thousand Sons
2nd Place: Christopher Jacobsen – Grey Knights
1st Place: Rasmus Valand Fredriksen – Tau
Rasmus went for a 2 detachment Tau setup with eh first being a battalion led by a Coldstar Commander, an Ethereal, and Longstrike. The Commander sports some serious mobility and great weapons making it a serious threat to the opponent, while the Ethereal is essentially the Tau’s version of psychic support. Longstrike is a named Hammerhead, making for a good support piece that also has some great firepower thanks to him being inside a tank!
Troops bring in 9 Breachers for close-range shots and 20 Kroot for cheap bodies that can sit on objectives or maybe tie up a ranged unit in melee for a turn or two.
Elites bring in 11 Crisis Suits, with Plasma Rifles for AP, Flamers for chaff, and Burst Cannons for flexibility. Fast Attack brings in 8 Kroot Hounds for cheap mobile bodies, while Heavy Support brings in 2 more Hammerheads for some good old-fashioned tank firepower.
Closing out the first detachment is a Devilfish to transport one of the small troop squads.
The second detachment brings in Shadowsun, which is just a fantastic model at the price point. She comes with fantastic weapons and supports making for an easy choice if there’s room in any tau list for her.
