The Escape From Arkham Asylum Kickstarter rules preview gives you a great taste of what to expect with the upcoming game from Knight models!
The Kickstarter is going to be all about the bad guys and see if you can’t make it to the streets to cause chaos once again. If you can’t tell from the name, the game will follow the villains on their way out of the Asylum, and at the end, you might even get to fight the big old bat.
The Kickstarter is shaping up to be awesome so we can’t wait till it goes live. In part 1, we covered the basics of the game and what to expect in the project. This time, we’ll be focusing more on the minis revealed and more specific gameplay. Let’s jump into it!
Escape From Arkham Asylum Kickstarter Rules Preview
The game will be for up to five players and be semi-cooperative. With them all being the baddest villains in Gotham, you can only expect it to be semi-cooperative. Plus, with the way the escape plans work, each game will be fully customizable, and not two games will be alike.
Each plan will have different conditions, special effects, and hidden gameplay mechanics. If you love what Knight Models is up to, check out what else they have made lately!
We’ll let Knight models take it from here because this is all about the revealed rules! Just one thing to note first, these are all prototypes, so they may change!
The Game Board:
The board is designed not only to create the dynamics of the game, but also to fully immerse ourselves in the wild aura of the Arkham Asylum. This is modular and consists of cardboard Tiles that can be rectangular (corridors) or hexagonal (rooms) that connect with each other in a simple way.
Except for the Super-Villains cells, which is where the miniatures start the game, the rest of the modules (will vary depending on the number of players) will be placed face down at the discretion of the players, in contact with up to three of the edges of the Super- Villains cell, a corridor and a room, so we create a unique board for each game.
Actions and movement
In Batman: Escape From Arkham Asylum the player has 6 actions per round (2 for each turn). If the model has obtained any additional conditions such as being stunned, this will subtract actions within the turn. In general, these actions spend one action point to take place, but there are also some actions that have zero cost, such as collecting gossip.
Among the actions that have one cost is the movement, which is one of the first things that can be done in the game, although it is also possible to fight, search, change the alarm level, etc. Usually, some of them will allow us to obtain Infamy Points. This is important because at the end of the game the player with the most Infamy Points will be the winner of the game. To carry out these actions and achieve objectives, the player must solve them with a dice roll, which, depending on the result, may have positive or negative consequences, both for the person making the roll and for the rest of the players.
The benefits of these actions can be used as you wish. In the case of movement, it will allow you to move around the board in search of your objectives, but, for example, there are also objects that, if you get them, you will have the opportunity to choose what to do with them, if you use them to temporarily gain additional abilities or if on the contrary, you use them to craft them and thus obtain weapons.
New Miniatures:
Poison Ivy. She will be a main character of the game like The Joker, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Two-Face, Bane, and Scarecrow. Other characters already revealed are Aaron Cash, Hugo Strange or some of the guys from The Suicide Squad: Peacemaker, King Shark, and Polka-Dot Man.
Batman: Escape From Arkham Asylum is intended to be “the biggest Batman game ever done” on Kickstarter, containing “hundreds” of miniatures and tokens, cards or markers. A fully immersive board game that will be launched on Kickstarter this Fall.
Every miniature in this set looks amazing, plus they say there could be an insane number of villains, so if you love DC, then you need to be on this project.
That does it for this one, keep your eyes peeled as the project is starting soon!
