Games Workshop may be poised to have a HUGE release schedule later in the year, judging by the rumors and what they just posted up on their corporate page!

You will need to collaborate with the other members of the Citadel Rules team, the Background Writers and the Product Developers to get clear on what the rules need to do, then write exciting, innovative rules that accomplish that.

You will be responsible for creating all types of rules content for Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 publications. You will also be required to create new games mechanics for our growing range of box games such as ‘Betrayal at Calth’ and ‘Execution Force’.

We know what makes this job hard is being able to deliver exciting, dynamic rules that fulfill the product brief, to a tight deadline.

So the  line that stands out to me is the one about their growing line of box games, such as ‘Betrayal at Calth’ and ‘Execution Force’.

Now we had heard that they were making a permanent slot in April and November for two of these games, is it possible that they are looking to expand those “Box Games” offerings OR are they just looking to maintain their product launch cycle on these?

Keeping all this in mind let’s take a look back at some of the rumors for 2016 releases:

You all can pick through these and try to figure out what you think GW’s best release schedule week to week might be.

The Cult has always been a fan favorite and normally I would discount any rumors of them returning to the Grimdark after a 20 year absence.  However, the arrival last year of Codex Harlequins and both Adeptus Mechanicus books makes anything possible.  The rumors signaling thier return are persistent and come from a variety of sources.

What isn’t known is if we are talking about a real standup 40K codex and armylist, or new models attached to a “Execution Force” style boxed game. Time will tell.

Sources who spoke to BoLS on condition of anonymity reported the following:

  • Betrayal at Calth was only the initial product in a Horus Heresy boxed game series.
  • Look for the Betrayal at Calth rules to reappear in future additional similar boxed sets.
  • These further boxed sets will expand the Betrayal at Calth ruleset and take gamers to other locations and pairs of adversaries set in the Heresy.
  • The second boxed game will make an appearance sooner than later this year (2016), based on the white hot financial success of the initial Betrayal at Calth product.

So from there it looks like the rumors are lining up with what the studio has planned going forward.  What new “Boxed” games would YOU like to see?
