Grey Knights Clawing Back to the Top: Homebrew 40k Army List

40k-homebrew-army-listsThe Grey Knights are clawing back into competitive play as another off-meta Warhammer 40k army list emerged in The Gravel Pit GT!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

The Gravel Pit GT: David Leniewski – Grey Knights 7th Place

David’s two detachment list starts off with a patrol led by a Librarian and a Grand Master in Nemesis Dread. The Librarian offers up some decent psychic support, while the Grand Master is an absolute powerhouse in melee and has decent ranged options along with a hit re-roll aura.

Troops bring in 10 Strike squad just for some decent bodies to sit on objects and deal a bit of damage.

Servitors provide some very cheap bodies, while Interceptors introduce some mobility to the list on some pretty good bodies. A Nemesis Dread closes out the first detachment and brings another beater on a body just like the Grand Master but without the aura.

The second detachment is a patrol led by Draigo and a Techmarine. The Techmarine helps to heal up all the Dreadknights to hopefully get a few extra turns out of them. Draigo has a fantastic melee profile and two re-roll abilities, making him a great support piece too.

There is also a 6-man Strike Squad for some more bodies.

Fast Attacks bring in 5 more Interceptors for mobility, and Heavy support closes out the whole list with two more Nemesis Dreads for those sweet sweet threats.
