GW Confirms Forge World is Dead On New FAQ Page

Forge-World-Games-workshop-1200-rebrand-ripGames Workshop confirms Forge World is dead in a new FAQ page on the website amid a very odd time to change everything…

Well, we all knew the end of Forge World was coming eventually, but now GW has 100% confirmed it. However, when you have to make an FAQ page for your new website that is rolling out right before the holiday season, maybe that was not the best idea.

Either way, we’ll look at the FAQ, what this could mean for the website so close to the holiday season, and the fate of Forge World that we saw coming down the pipeline for years.

Games Workshop Confirms Forge World is Dead in New FAQ Page

This latest update on the New Games Workshop webstore comes from the Warhammer FAQ  page.

Late in the day, after the new website rolled out, Games Workshop put out an FAQ for their new site launch. In it, they confirmed our fears: Forge World is no more.

forge world is dead

It is sad to see, but it looks like the age of Forge World has ended, and the time of Expert Kits is here.   It’s interesting how they are deciding what is what; is there actually a difference between an Expert Kit and 15+ Resin?

Either way, GW has officially killed off the term Forge World from almost everything, so hobbyists will no longer buy Forge World-branded products. However, it is nice to have everything available for sale in one place; there are just some other issues with the site.

Warhammer DOT Com Gets Launch FAQs

GW New FAQ Page

This is a little more about FW. Basically, they are just part of the normal products, and they can be combined with regular stock ones to reach the shipping threshold, which is nice.

GW New FAQ PageThis is a big problem, especially when you consider it is dropping right before the holiday season, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, etc. The gift vouchers have not come over yet, and at this point, we have no idea how long it will take for the balances to migrate.

Let’s hope they do soon and there isn’t a giant portion of people sitting around without their vouchers that they may be buying, were gifted, or even received from Warhammer Plus.

GW New FAQ PageThen, Gift Lists are gone from the site, at least for now. Which again can be a huge issue right ahead of the holidays… They also can’t split dispatch dates, which could be annoying with pre-orders, Forge World, and regular products.

While this FAQ clears some stuff up, there seems to still be some significant issues with this rollout. The Web developers we polled said that you never do infrastructure rollouts in Q4. So from a professional standpoint, at least, this project should have probably happened in September or January (2024.)

Faq for a website lol

Furthermore, they said you could easily call this project “mismanaged” if you need an FAQ for a new design that appears unintuitive or lacks features users expect.

Forge World Rebranded 2

This is the only thing that remains of Forge World after the rebrand. However, this Facebook page has only been about Horus Heresy since back in 2020. Plus, as you can see, the website is linked to the new Warhammer DOT com site.

What do you think about Forge World being rebranded into expert kits by Games Workshop?
