GW Previews New Warcry, Underworlds & Lord of the Rings
Warhammer Underworlds: Wyrdhollow Headsmen’s Curse
Straight from WHC, we’ve got a full breakdown of the new Warhammer Underworlds releases!
No matter where the blade travels, it is always accompanied by four spirits, their identities subsumed into nameless roles – one who bears the chopping block, one who sharpens the blade’s edge, one who sentences the condemned, and one lucky ghost who gets to wield that big old sword.
With a cool thematic about them, this seems to be an interesting new addition to Underworlds!
All members of the warband must work in concert, aiding the Wielder of the Blade in their pursuit of the numerous noggins on Nagash’s naughty list. The Headsmen’s Curse comes with a Plot card for generating Condemned counters, and collecting three allows the warband to achieve their Inspire condition.
With each of the spirits trying to help the main sword wielder claim heads, these might make for exciting play patterns.
Interesting ploys these cards will help make the warband feel and play unique.
Lopping off heads is the name of the game with this aggressive warband, who come with a Rivals deck that rewards careful planning and taking as many heads as your ghosts can carry with their clammy hands.
These objective cards really don’t leave much to the imagination for what this warband is trying to do!
Warhammer Underworlds 2023 Roadmap

Age Of Sigmar: Warcry Nightmare Quest
Straight from WHC, we’ve got a full breakdown of all the new Age of Sigmar Warcry releases!
Two warbands with very different opinions on virtue and hygiene set foot into the Gnarlwood in Warcry: Nightmare Quest, the next expansion for Warcry. This box contains everything you need to embark on expeditions with the Questor Soulsworn or the Royal Beastflayers.
Warcry initially hit it off pretty well with some super unique chaos warbands, and this new box set wants to expand on that success.
This new box includes a stack of Ghurish terrain, including an overgrown and mysterious Realmshaper Engine from the Eye of Chotec, which can sunder the ground at the command of anyone who controls it.
An interesting thing to note is that if you have gotten all the Realm of Beasts Warcry boxes, you actually can form a full AoS board by connecting them all with this one!
The Questor Soulsworn are unique among the Stormcast Eternals. Existing outside the traditional chamber structure, each Soulsworn is selected by Sigmar himself to join the ranks of the Questors, giving them a chance to flex their muscles and express their heroic virtues to the fullest in the most dangerous missions.
A new flavor of the fan favorite AoS faction is sure to be popular, and these models do look pretty good.
These puissant paladins are usually solo agents, wandering the realms to carry out the God-King’s will according to visions and omens. On occasion, however, they will gather as a warband to undertake a particularly perilous task – such as cutting to the heart of the Ravening Ruin to keep the secrets of Talaxis from falling into the wrong hands.
The real special model for the warband is definitely the leader, though! This miniature is sweet!
These gallant warriors must contend with the Royal Beastflayers. These coteries of cannibal courtiers act as gameskeepers for their vampiric kings, stalking terrible beasts – or innocent bystanders, but who’s counting – that threaten their noble kingdom. Employing grotesque Offal Hounds to track their supposed quarry, they return in glory with bloody pelts and trophies.
Driven by delusions, these squires serve their lords, not even knowing how twisted they truly are.
This particular warband are out to wreck the Realmshaper Engines of the Gnarlwood, believing them to be nests of horrid draconic magic – and will unleash a geomantic catastrophe if they succeed.
The Trackers serve as the lowest in the chain of command (other than the hounds, of course).
As one of the leaders, the Baron will be a bigger threat, but he’s still not the top dog in the warband.
The true leader is the Flaymaster, and it shows! This is an impressive model and also quite revolting. That spear arm is insane.
A cool thing to look forward to is the introduction of a multiplayer game mode, as mentioned on stream. They described it as a 2v2v2 campaign-like game mode!
Warcry 2023 Roadmap
Both factions will find themselves in games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar before long, with warscrolls of their own. More carnage meanwhile awaits in Warcry – valiant cartographers have risked life and limb to provide us with a roadmap of what you can expect in the future.
Autumn is set to be massive for warcry with a whopping four warband releases!
