How to Paint Hive Fleet Kraken Tyranids: Hellfire Hobbies Tutorial
He starts with a Steel Legion Drab base through the airbrush on the whole model. Then he breaks out Skeleton Bone from the Army painter and actually highlights the entire model from the top down. He then does another layer with the same color, but with a brush to bring out more definition. With a focus on the carapace, but still does the whole thing.
Step 2:
Now, you do not want to hit the carapace, just the fleshy areas. Now he uses Seraphim Sepia and does the wash over all the flesh and claws. As that dries he moves to the skin and breaks out the Volopus Pink and hits all the areas of the carapace you did not do before.
Because you already highlighted, you can actually put on a decent amount of paint.
Step 3:
Since this is speed painting, as the contrast dries he moves on to the green and paints all the details like the eyes, tongue, and cables. Then highlights with a quick yellow layer. At this stage he also does a quick layer of silver drybrush on the base he plans on using.
Step 4:
Now he goes with Druvcii Violet and does a quick highlight on the previous pink. To finish the model off, he goes for very light green and hits all the tubing and tongue again and hits it with the green contrast.
Finished Model
There you have it! A model that will look great on the table and only takes minutes to paint, hard to beat that!
