LEGO Ideas NASA SR 71 BLACKBIRD Fully Supported!

By Travis Pasch | January 10th, 2022 | Categories: LEGO, Pop Gamer Culture, Warhammer 40k Rumors

Nasa SR 71 feature rAfter being proposed via the LEGO Ideas portal, this new NASA SR 71 BLACKBIRD Kit has been fully supported and should see an official release!

If you didn’t already know, LEGO puts up fan-created kits on their Ideas site for builders to vote on. This gives the kits an opportunity to garner support from the community and the best kits can then be created as official products! However, even if you see something get to 10,000 votes, that doesn’t 100% guarantee it. So while the chances are super high, it is possible this doesn’t get a real kit, so don’t get too excited quite yet.

This NASA kit project can be found there, but we will also cover some of the details below.

LEGO Ideas NASA SR 71 BLACKBIRD Fully Supported!

Nasa SR 71This kit was created by BrickerBeard and is just so awesome! It would be a super fun kit to build and we hope it fully gets the green light as the space and NASA kits are usually insanely fun.

Nasa SR 71 2The set comes in at 1650 pieces so there will be plenty to keep you occupied. Let’s hear what they have to say about the set:

My goal was to build an aircraft that was as faithful as possible to the original while maintaining the comparative dimensions of the minifigures that fit comfortably in the cockpit.
the result was a project of important dimensions and with clean and sharp lines as in the original model.
I am satisfied to have built a very stable and visually striking object given the generous dimensions.

  • The minifigures chosen represent the pilot Ed Schneider and the navigator Marta Bohn-Meyer.
  • This is the version sold to NASA for supersonic suborbital flight tests.
  • Composed of 1650 pieces measures approximately 100×50 studs

Nasa SR 71 3While this kit is really sweet, we can’t score it quite yet, so if you need a space LEGO kit to hold you over, check out a great kit you can score below.
