Magic: TG In-Store Play Returning & New Booster Set

wotc hq header magicGood news if you’ve been itching for some games, as Magic: The Gathering in-store play is returning, along with a new booster set.

Wizards Play Network has just announced that all in-store events will return on May 28th (this week). They will also herald in reopening with 3 different promotions. This will still depend on your LGS and if they feel comfortable with it. But for those that do open, Wizards will be giving promotions to stores across America. It is important to note, stores do not have to reopen. If you don’t feel it’s right yet, metrics will stay frozen so it will not negatively impact your metrics.

You will be able to score foils, retro frame cards, and mystery boosters. The announcement is part of the return of the Love Your Local Game Store promotion. We’ll take any help given to local stores right now, so this is cool to see.

Magic: The Gathering In-Store Play Returning in May

Fabled passage the return of live playIn the coming months—and as in-store play resumes in other locations across the globe—we’re rolling out a sequence of exciting promotions to help bring your community back to your store, amplify your events, and give customers more reason to celebrate and love their local game store.

This promotion is made up of three legendary offerings, releasing throughout the summer:

  • First, beginning June 18, we’re offering a sales promo of foil retro-frame Fabled Passage for each customer who spends $50 or more in-store on Sealed Magic (while supplies last).
  • Next, later this summer, we’ll have five different foil, retro-frame promos, one for each in-store event entry.
  • Finally, we’ll cap things off with a WPN-exclusive of Mystery Booster Convention Edition, intended to create a one-of-a-kind event in your store.

Nothing wrong with getting some promotional stuff! Even spending the $50 isn’t that bad, because it will really help your FLGS get some more revenue back flowing on a regular basis.

Updated Events Policies

In store play returningRetailers do not have to run events if they feel it is not right for them to do so. They will not be negatively affected in any way by Wizards for not reopening. Further, store owners can impose whatever safety measures they feel necessary and can modify procedures if they feel it will make it a safe environment. Overall it seems a fairly open way they are going about it.

By giving stores promos who want to open, but not penalizing those who don’t.

Will you be attending in-store events? Do you like the promos they set up?
