New HH Rules Downloads: Older Kits & Legends Come Back

The new HH rules downloads will be for a bunch of older, more obscure units, and legends so you can still play them in the new edition!

They are actually releasing the rules for free, which is always nice, and even some rules for units that never actually grabbed models. This is something GW usually doesn’t do, but it looks like Horus Heresy is getting the exception this time. Then, they say they will be releasing both the Legacies of the Age of Darkness documents and the Exemplary Battles rules for each new army book.

Meaning you’ll be able to play with all kinds of esoteric units in HH and convert them up! Warhammer Community unveiled the first sets of rules, let’s check them out!

New HH Rules Downloads: Older Kits & Legends Come Back

Age of Darkness

Legacies of the Age of Darkness: Legiones Astartes is a compilation of Legiones Astartes units and characters that had rules in the previous edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy but never had miniatures released for them – or had miniatures that have long since passed out of production.

Also included are a number of Space Marines units that were originally included in the Legiones Astartes army list, but which were later supplanted by versions more grounded in the Age of Darkness – for example, the standard Whirlwind was superseded by the Scorpius version, standard Land Speeders with the Land Speeder Javelin, and standard Terminators with Tartaros and Cataphractii.

As you can see, this document is actually quite large with over 100 pages! Considering there is so much in there, we won’t be covering, and you can download the whole document here!

Age of Darkness 2

We know that many long-time Warhammer: Horus Heresy players still utilise such units – in particular the beloved ‘Castraferrum’ Dreadnought and ‘Indomitus’ Terminators, both of which existed in the Age of Darkness – so we wanted people to be able to continue playing with their full collection.

It’s pretty cool they tell you what the units are meant for, as it gives you a good idea of how to convert your units!

Exemplary Battles Series

HH Rules

We’ve also released an updated document for Exemplary Battles units, which brings those units introduced in the Exemplary Battles series in line with the new edition.

As we said, it’s just fun to see these old units stick around and not just go by the wayside. Plus, with the units being updated to the new edition, let’s hope they are fairly balanced. You can download the full thing here!
