There look to be a lot of rules and Idoneth Deepkin points changes for Age of Sigmar 3.0- here’s the latest!
With the box hitting shelves hopefully the new battletomes close behind, it’s time for some rules. So even though not a ton of rules were revealed today, keep an eye out for more on the way soon!
Warhammer Community revealed the new rules but we’ll also be taking a look at the value of the box and if it’s a worthwhile pickup. Let’s get into it!
Fury of the Deep Box Set Pricing Breakdown:
The price of the box is $170 the same as the previous Shadow and Pain box went for.
- 10x Auric Hearthguard/Auric Berzerkers $90 ($45 for a box of 5)
- Auric Flamekeeper $35 (based on most recent characters)
- Vulkite Berzerkers $60 (existing kit)
Total Fyreslayers MSRP: $185
- Akhelian Thrallmaster $35 (based on most recent characters)
- Akhelian Allopex $45
- 10 Namarti Thralls $50
- 10 Namarti Reavers $50
Total Idoneth Deepkin MSRP: $180
Total Fury of the Deep Retail Value: $365
Value in the box: $195
So, if you break it down with a friend, you’ll be paying right around $85 a person and getting about $100 extra in value each. We are also not including the booklet inside because that should just be an added value bonus for players. So, honestly, there is solid value inside (basically the same as Shadow and Pain) and much more than the recent Shadow Throne box for 40k.
Is Fury of the Deep Worth it?
This is about as good of a value for a box we’ve seen in a while. It feels like it’s been forever since we had even seen a new AoS battle box (Dominion doesn’t really count) but the value is basically identical to the last one.

Plus it makes the 40k boxes look weak in comparison. So, if you want to start either of the armies inside or just expand your collection, this will save you some cash. They also did a good job on this one of keeping the dollar values for both armies really close.
New Idoneth Deepkin Akhelian Thrallmaster AoS Rules
Unshackled from the restrictive training of the Akhelians, each Thrallmaster learns to wield an armoury of exotic weapons, swapping between styles and stances to fell the foes they face in the vast oceans of the Mortal Realms – accompanied by the Namarti warriors they’ve drilled in each deadly dance. Scoring an extra hit for each hit roll of 6 will turn your already-bloodthirsty Thralls into a combat blender, while the ability to re-roll hit rolls of 1 offers them more reliability in a pinch. If you’re on the receiving end of overwhelming force, the Way of the Vortex also increases your survivability – ideal against big monsters with a handful of powerful attacks.
This gives you some decent buffs and flexibility rules-wise for the new Akhelian Thrallmaster. Getting extra hits on 6’s is always nice, but so is re-rolling all ones. It really depends if you think you’re going to roll a lot of 1’s (you need to trust in your dice more) or think you’re on a hot streak and will get a ton of 6’s (maybe trust in your dice less…). Either are both pretty strong.
Then, if you’re getting charged, the way of the Vortex will help keep your Akhelian Thrallmaster, along with nearby forces, alive longer to strike back with these new rules.
All the New AoS Idoneth Deepkin Points Changes & Rules
The biggest change here is the Allopexes going up 40 points a model. The Thralls also went up 10 points for 10 models and the Reavers went up a whopping 55 points! We’ll have to see the whole book, but these are pretty big increases.
Idoneth Deepkin Warscrolls & Rules Changes
The wounds did go up, so the points there make some sense, other than that, most things stayed the same, but they did gain some damage on their weapons. So really, with the additions, the points do sort of make sense.
Fuethán Allopexes are particularly known for their aggressive skill when hunting in groups – as such, you can also can take three units of single Allopexes in a special formation known as a Bloodthirsty Shiver. These Allopexes are individual units, but you’ll want them swimming together to unleash their full potential.
Why? In your combat phase, you can pick one Allopex from each Bloodthirsty Shiver in your army, and give that model a deadly buff to its Ferocious Bites attack. For the rest of the phase, every unmodified hit roll of 6 lands an extra hit – or two extra hits, if it’s within 3” of another unit in the same Bloodthirsty Shiver. It’s perfect for ripping foes apart after your Namarti Reavers put some blood in the water.
A nice little way to buff your units just by keeping them close to each other!
Their Bravery increased by one, they have a better to hit roll, and now they just have one attack profile with 2 attacks and an added Rend. They took away the run re-roll, but make them better at hitting units that are close. So, they did get better in some ways, but 55 points is a lot, we’ll just have to see how they perform overall now.
They got an extra Bravery and an extra inch on their blades. Other than that, they are staying basically the exact same. Still, 10 points aren’t anything crazy, so we expect them to perform about the same as they currently do.
Idoneth Deepkin Leviadons Rules
If your army belongs to the Nautilar Enclave, you’ll be able to field Akhelian Leviadons as Battleline units – because the only thing better than one Leviadon is a whole bale* of them. It’s a very cool new way to build an army – in fact, an enterprising Soulraid could cram as many as three of these not-so-gentle giants into a 2,000-point list.
This ability makes the Leviadon truly a turtle for all seasons – munch through enemy hordes using its Crushing Charge, before taking huge bites out of Monsters and Heroes by boosting its Rend with a Crushing Assault. These chelonian champions can land over 20 damage in a single round of attacks – and that’s before the aelves on their back get involved!
A -3 Rend is really powerful, plus with the ability to take 3 of these in a list, they can smash through the enemy. 20 Damage in one round of attacks is nothing to sneeze at, let’s just hope the rest of the entry lives up to the hype!
Tides of Death Rules
Any Idoneth Deepkin army can benefit from the Tides of Death – army-wide bonuses that shift with each battle round as the ethersea ebbs and flows – but Isharann Rituals will really let you ride the waves. If your army includes any ISHARANN units, at the start of the first battle round you can choose from one of four rituals to influence the ethersea.
Shooting and charging is pretty nice and by turn 2, you should be able to get some charges off. However, adding 1 to your run and charge rolls could help you secure the charges you need.
Any successful soul-raid depends on timing – pick the perfect moment to land your ritual, pair it up with the right fighting stance, and watch your warriors sweep away all opposition like an unstoppable tsunami.
This will let you get out of combat and charge either the same unit again for the bonuses, or get onto a new target. Then, the Ritual will let you deal some mortals to all enemy units within 3″. If you’re in range of 3 or 4 units, the wounds could really start adding up.
