RUMORS: Next AoS Battletomes & Battleboxes Releases

chaos rumors new wal hor warhammer games workshopNew confirmations are here for rumors about which AoS Battletomes and Battleboxes are coming next for Age of Sigmar!

Wondering which faction is getting a battlebox, battletome, or other releases for Age of Sigmar? Well, if they are on this list you’re in luck, if not, well they are just rumors anyways…

With that said, these seem solid as the same source predicted the slowdowns, dragons, and they even predicted the Idoneth Deepkin vs Fyreslayers box. The timing was just a bit out of order, but with COVID, what is time anyway?

These rumors come from Miniwars and are pretty fun to check out!

Still, they are rumors so take them with as much or little salt as you need.

Obviously, lots of things are changing with the new edition of Age of Sigmar so let’s hope they can stay on schedule and get the books out soon. The rumors also say some of what new models we should expect, so let’s hope for lots! Especially for some of the older ones, like Ogors, that hopefully get way more than just a new character…

However, it does look like Idoneth and Fyreslayers are just grabbing one new miniature each. So with that rumor confirmed, let’s check out that new box, then get into the rest of the rumors.

GW Reveals New AoS Battle Box Set: Fury of the Deep

fury of the deep

Yet another ancient animosity reaches boiling point as bald heads meet long beards in Fury of the Deep, the next battlebox to rock the Mortal Realms.

fury of the deep 4

The Auric Flamekeeper is joined by five Auric Hearthguard and five Hearthguard Berzerkers – 10 models in total who can be built either way – as well as 10 Vulkite Berzerkers. Against them is an Idoneth raiding party consisting of 10 Namarti Thralls, 10 Namarti Reavers, and a blood-thirsty Akhelian Allopex.

With 43 minis (and 2 new ones) there is a decent amount inside the box!  They say the book will be released in “early 2022”, and since they revealed the box, mid to late January would be a great place to start looking for it at the earliest.

They did mention this little tidbit that apparently the new Eldritch omens box will come out at the same time as well:

And after yesterday’s big reveal for Warhammer 40,000, we have something special for fans of the Mortal Realms coming on the same day.

Considering we saw an Idoneth Warband not too long ago, it was only a matter of time before they grabbed a new battletome as well. The rumors predicted this would be coming in April, so the timing is off, but they still got the box exactly right and that there would be two new character miniatures.

There’s a chance, this box will be swapped in time with the Bonereapers and they will actually be filling that April spot.

Ossiarch Bonereapers

bone kings ossiarch bonereapers age of sigmarThey received some new stuff in Underworlds, so that’s usually a good precursor to new minis for Age of Sigmar One set of rumors said these guys are getting an update in January which may be delayed due to the Fury of the Deep box set confirmation.

Either way, according to the word on the street, it looks like they will be getting a new hero on a monster and Mortek Archers.  So two new units are nothing to complain about, even if they may be delayed until the rumored April spot for the Fury of the Deep Box.

Beasts of Chaos

sc beastsYou know an army needs a rework when the pictures on the site for multiple of their units are still on square bases. It’s like GW just didn’t even care enough to change them to the new format over the years.

So, yeah, they need a rework and new minis! Maybe they and Ogors can come in a new starter box together with all new minis! One can dream, but according to these rumors, we don’t have that long to wait until we know for sure

Ogors

ogor mournfang 'Let’s just say we are hoping beyond hope this is true, and that basically, they get a rehaul on almost all of their minis! We don’t even care about the book so much, just the need for some new minis! S0rry gluttons, your time may have come…

A large portion of their units is from before the change over to AoS, meaning they haven’t been touched in years and years. This could be a massive overhaul, or if GW doesn’t feel like it, maybe they just redo a unit or two. Let’s just hope that’s not the case!

Nighthaunt

After Ogors supposedly take over the summer spot, Nighthaunts may be taking October, just in time for Halloween! Again, the rumors don’t say much about new models, but with all the releases we’ve seen at least one new character.

So we don’t expect too much more than that for this release.

Gloomspite Gitz & Slaves to Darkness AoS Battlebox Rumors

gloomspite gitz age of sigmar how to playThe Gitz Battletome is about a 3-year-old book, which is quite old with how much things have changed with AoS in that time. Not to mention a new edition of the rules.  If we had to guess they may need a little bit of work. Whereas the Slaves to Darkness have not grabbed as many updates as we would expect for them or even had new models in quite some time (start collecting box aside), so hopefully they get some awesome new minis.

We’re not sure what new minis Gloomespite Gitz will get, however, as their model line isn’t that old. Still, they will probably get a new champion or two, or at least a couple of reworks.

We have also heard about Gitz versus beasts of Chaos as well previously… so take all these with a mound of salt.

Gloomspite Gitz vs Beasts of Chaos?

gloomspite gitz trollThis will be a dual army box, meaning if you play either side, you’ll be getting new stuff! The gobbo side of things will see a new Scuttleboss on Giant Spider. While the old mini isn’t too bad, it’s really nothing to write home about.

While that’s nice, Beasts of Chaos will be getting a whole host of new minis! They will be getting three new minis, Doombull, Bullgor, and Jabberslythe. All three of those kits really need a rework (not to mention everything they have).

Umbraneth/Malerion

malerion walIt all started when they did a preview of Shadow, Iron, and Broken Realms and revealed this shadowy artwork. It reminded us of Malerion taking a new form. Some of you may have heard of the name “Malerion” aka Malekith aka the Witch King before from the world that was…

We’ve also seen a little short story of him talking to Morathi and the fact that he is finally manifesting himself into the mortal realms.

Well, he needs an army to lead, so we expect them to be kind of like dark elves in a sense. We haven’t seen any minis, but this looks like GW has been setting them up for a long time now. If you want to read more about the initial time we thought they were coming, check that out here.

Rumor is don’t expect this to hit though until early 2023.

Looking into 2023

seraphon lizardmen wal horIt looks like Seraphon vs. Skaven will be the first battle box of 2023, but that’s pretty far off and not super confirmed. So take that with as much salt as you need, we’ll just have to wait and see on yet one more thing.

Global disruptions seem to be putting more and more releases farther and farther out. Before we used to be able to tell about when a new edition of any game would drop.  These days however look for more time to pass in increments of years between editions as well.
