massive prize painting competitionScore a piece of the massive $21,000 prize pool for the 2024 Resin Beast painting competition at AdeptiCon 2024!

Every year, AdeptiCon draws hobbyists, gamers, and enthusiasts from across the globe to celebrate their passion for tabletop gaming and miniatures. Among its myriad attractions, the Resin Beast Competition stands out as a showcase of unparalleled creativity and craftsmanship.  If you are going to the event, this is a great way to show off your skill, and if you register early, it’s totally free (well, other than your AdeptiCon ticket).

Resin Beast 2024 is Returning to AdeptiCon With a $21,000 Prize Pool

Resin Beast 2024 3Registration is open now, and if you pre-register, it’s free. If you wait until the event, it will be $25, so either way, it’s not terrible. This year will also have one of the biggest prize pools we’ve ever seen, with the large models taking up the largest portion. But don’t worry; if you love smaller miniatures, you can still win some pretty awesome prizes.

This year, there will be five categories and more allowed miniatures than ever before. Here are the categories:

  • Large Model
  • Mid-size Model
  • Small Model
  • Diorama
  • Unit or Warband

This year, you will also have a wider range of miniatures you can use. You can build and paint miniatures from Creature Caster, Para Bellum Conquest, and Bestiarum Games Models. So, even if you don’t have a bunch of CC minis to paint, there are plenty of great minis to use. Conquest also has some amazing miniatures, especially with the artist series, which would make for some great hobby projects to work on and possibly win a prize.

Prize Support

Resin Beast 2024The large models take up the second biggest portion of the prize pool, but even the small models will have great support this year. However, there will be additional prizes for anyone who podiums, someone who makes a podium for the first time ever, and more.

Resin Beast 2024 2Dioramas get the best support out of any of the categories, but this makes sense as they take a serious amount of effort. If you want to see all the prize support, you can check out the prize breakdown here.

Judging

Resin Beast 2024 4Since this is their competition, we’ll let them tell you a little more about the judging:

Entries will be considered on 4 criteria and each criteria should be considered separately and not be allowed to influence another criteria. The criteria are weighted differently depending on the Category being judged, and the final score in a Category will be the weighted average of those criteria. The Criteria are as follows:

  1. Originality, Ambition, & Challenge
  2. Theme, Narrative, and Ability to Evoke Emotion
  3. Workmanship and Consistency
  4. Artistic Application (Shape & Form, Color & Value, Light, Composition, & Texture).

This year’s competition promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with a whopping $21,000 prize pool and a wider range of miniatures to choose from. With five categories to enter and a fair judging process based on specific criteria, the Resin Beast competition is a great opportunity to demonstrate your passion and talent for miniature painting.
