Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Lightly Salted Spring GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Lightly Salted Spring GT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

Lightly Salted Spring GT: Chris Vaughan – Grey Knights 6th Place

Chris Vaughan 1Chris found pretty good success with his Grey Knights led by a Librarian, Techmarine, and a Grand Master in Dreadknight.  The Librarian is nice for psychic support along with the Grand Master in Nemesis Dread for a fantastic threat, the Techmarine is decent for healing up vehicles which in this case might just be the Dreadknight!

Troops keep it simple with 3 5-man strike squads, which are decent bodies that can stand their own, which means they might be the perfect choice for holding an objective or two.

Elites bring in a single 5-man Paladin squad, which serves as a roaming melee threat that can lay down the hurt if allowed to charge in. Fast Attacks have a total of 10 Interceptors, which are the main source of mobility for harassing and flexibility being able to go wherever whenever they are needed.

Finally closing out the list are 3 nemesis Dreadknights, which are very similar to the Grand Masters but without some of the benefits that come with being more expensive characters.

All-in-all this is a pretty standard list for Grey Knights, but it’s nice to be reminded that they are still certainly viable in competitive settings if the general is good enough!
