Armada Wave V is almost here, and once again they’re pushing back to the squadron side of the game. Check out today’s Armada Tactics!

With Wave V and The Corellian Conflict releasing soon, another push towards more squadron heavy fleets is almost to be expected. No complaints coming from my end, I’m actually looking forward to adding a bunch of these to my fleet.
In this scene—made possible by the Wave V squadrons—we see an Imperial Light Cruiser using the Lambda-class Shuttle’s Relay to deliver its squadron command to the TIE Defender Squadrons within striking distance of the Rebellion’s Assault Frigate Mark II. Together with the Rogue VT-49 Decimator on the Assault Frigate’s other flank, these squadrons allow the Empire to blast at the frigate’s hull, all while the Light Cruiser holds back safely out of range.
Choosing to allow another friendly squadron to perform a second attack, or an attack after it moves, instead of attacking himself, could help a lot of slower heavier hitting squadrons get shots in after moving into position. Add Relay 2 to Colonel Jendon will allow you to activate up to two squadrons as far away from Colonel Jendon as distance 3 give your squadron command a new presence to be feared. Support ships will soon become the focus of an attack instead of your capital ship.
Even some squadrons from The Corellian Conflict benefit from the new Wave V keywords. Here we see Saber Squadron using Snipe to fire at one of the B-wing Squadrons engaged with the elusive Ciena Ree.
Snipe is a new feature that has really caught my attention. Now you can fire x blue dice at an enemy squadron, range 2, and you ignore the Counter keyword. Having 3 or 4 of these will definitely increase the survivability of your squadrons just being about to avoid any Counters you may run into.
During a game played with the Intel Sweep objective, a Lambda-class Shuttle uses Strategic to reposition an objective token within scoring range of the Empire’s Raider-class Corvette.
Both heavy, relay, and strategic, these squadrons are almost the same. This just comes down to which color dice you want to throw. But what i want to focus on from these is that little word Strategic. Being able to move an objective token, distance 1 from you, to anywhere around you distance 1, can make sneaking into snipe those intel sweep points a lot easier.
There you have it folks, my plans, thoughts, and ideas for some of the new Wave V ships. Agree, disagree, want to ask me how many of Rob’s cats run from me, leave it in the comment below. Thanks for reading.
