The Gladiator is under new leadership and is ready to make its sneak attack against the Rebel fleet. Watch out for Captain Brunson!
The Gladiator is rightly feared in the space battles of Armada, and this new build makes it even more difficult to deal with. As a small ship, this Star Destroyer is more than capable of punching well above its weight class, making large based ships feel the burn! This ordnance dealing beast is usually kitted out with all the bells and whistles to make it a menace, but we are going about it a little differently this time.
The officer slot is usually taken by an Intel Officer, but Captain Brunson is at the helm now! Captain Brunson is a 5 point officer that reads: while defending at distance 1-2 of an obstacle you may exhaust this card to choose and cancel 1 attack die. This defensively oriented officer can keep the Gladiator in the fight much longer and acts much like the Rebel Admonition title.
Now let’s go with on offensive punch! Wide Area Barrage is an interesting new ordnance upgrade that can spread the love whenever you get a black crit icon. If the defender is a ship, choose 1 other ship or squadron at close range of the defender. That ship or squadron suffers damage equal to half of the total number of black hit icons in your attack pool rounded up. This can often result in 2 damage to another enemy ship or squadron that cannot be defended against. A great way to take out pesky flotillas that stay too close to each other.
The Gladiator is a mean ship, and it just got the right officer to help it become even more fearsome in Star Wars Armada.
