Admiral Ackbar is now at the helm of the MC75 in Armada. The Empire will regret engaging this Rebel Admiral once the Profundity releases its reinforcements.
The MC75 is barring down on the Empire with its battery of powerful dice and strong defenses. Its impressive side arcs of 3 red and 2 blue dice can be powerful on the long to medium approach, and its forward arc can help in close range brawls. Able to reach speed 3, the MC75 can outmaneuver the MC80, especially at speed 1 with its double yaw. Admiral Ackbar will lead the MC75 well into the Imperial fleet, batteries blazing.
Admiral Ackbar can take advantage of the strong side arcs of the MC75 by adding 2 red dice to its left and right firing arcs, but only if it fires from left and right arcs only. This can result in a 5 red dice at long range, and can take advantage of turbolaser upgrades like Quad Battery Turrets. Staying at speed 1 and making use of the double yaw can give this large Rebel ship enough room to get in and out of tight spots.
With Quad Battery Turrets and Ackbar, you can get 5 red and 1 blue at long range, so this allows you to take advantage of Leading Shots. This can help you get those rerolls at long range, by being able to spend that 1 blue die to reroll your red dice that miss their target. The key is to stay flexible and choose to use your Ackbar ability at the right time, opting to not use it when you can double arc with your strong front and side arc.
With the Profundity title, you can keep a command 1 ship inside, ready to deploy when the time is right to strike. You may also unequip Admiral Ackbar to jettison on this ship whenever it deploys. This can keep Ackbar on the table longer if your MC75 is going down, you can keep those Ackbar dice rolling hot.
Let’s choose a CR90B for the Profundity deployment.
The CR90B is a great close to medium version of the plucky Rebel Corvette. This ship can take advantage of Admiral Ackbar’s additional red dice in its side arcs. If you get into a great position with your deployment, you could use Ackbar’s ability and fire at 2 different ships from your side arcs with 2 red and 2 blues, barring range restrictions.
This can further be benefited by using an Ion upgrade.
Ion Cannon Batteries can really add that extra punch from the small CR90B. With a blue crit, you may choose and discard 1 command token from the defender. If the defender does not have any command tokens, you may remove 1 shield form the defending hull zone.
This is a great little upgrade that could be used at just the right time to prevent a targeted ship from using a crucial command token to keep in in the fight longer. Use Ackbar’s skill and his new choice of flagship to defeat the Empire in Armada!
