Major Vynder is a pilot skill 7 Star WIng pilot that is going to be fast and maneuverable with his pilot ability. He will favor the SLAM action for sure since his ability allows him to roll an additional defense die when he has a weapons disabled token. The Star Wing also has options to ignore those weapons disabled tokens, so all the better for Major Vynder! Since he is at pilots skill 7, Veteran Instincts is a great elite talent for him. The XG-1 Assault Configuration is going to make Major Vynder an aggressive Star WIng. This title opens up 2 cannon slots for the Star WIng.It also comes with the ability to perform attacks with cannons that cost 2 or fewer squad points even while you have a weapons disabled token. See a pattern here yet? Major Vynder boosts his defenses while he has a weapons disabled token and his offense as well with XG-1.
Since we want to keep our cannon slots at a low squad point cost, Jamming Beam is a perfect fit. Jamming Beam is effective at range 1-2 and assigns the defender 1 jam token if its attack hits. Jam tokens force the defender to discard 1 focus evade, or blue target lock token of their choice so it forces bad decisions on your opponent. This will also leave them vulnerable to a follow up shot from one of your other squad-mates.
Since we have an additional cannon slot to fill, might as well go with the Linked Battery. This upgrade makes it so that we may reroll 1 attack die when attacking with a cannon or primary weapon. This will make the Jamming Beam attack dice more consistent and can help in a pinch with range 1 primary weapon attacks.
