After some serious lightsaber-dueling over the decision, Atomic Mass Games has announced that it will stop developing new content for Star Wars™: X-Wing and Star Wars: Armada.

It’s been a tough ride, with skyrocketing production costs, global manufacturing hiccups, and those pesky pandemic challenges making it harder than navigating the Kessel Run to produce top-notch, pre-painted miniatures.

The Glory Days of X-Wing Miniatures

Skyrocketing to Fame

Back in 2012, Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures blasted onto the scene, and boy, did it make an impact. With its easy-to-learn rules and the sheer thrill of piloting iconic starfighters, it quickly became a hit. It even eclipsed the mighty Warhammer 40k in popularity for a while until Games Workshop made significant changes around 2017 with 8th Edition and a new CEO.

X-wing miniatures’ accessible entry points and gripping gameplay drew in everyone from hardcore gamers to Star Wars newbies.

Then came 2018 and the launch of X-Wing 2.0. The update aimed to streamline the game but also brought a hefty price tag. Players had to buy conversion kits to make their old ships compatible with the new rules, leading to a lot of grumbling.

This paywall turned off many fans, and the game’s popularity took a nosedive.
