Severina Raine female commissar

New rules were just spotted for Severina Raine, the new female Commissar model, for 40k Kill Team. Take a look and see if you want her on your team!

Games Workshop surprised the community with a new model when they previewed a brand new named Commissar model that is coming soon from Black Library.

Looking at the miniature, she’s totally functional as a Commissar on the 40k tabletop.  Plus she is even getting her own set of rules for Kill Team that were spotted on Imgur.

Starting off with Severina’s keywords, she is also listed as a Commander. Originally when Kill Team released, there were no such things as Commanders. However, GW decided to throw characters into the bunch of your elite Kill Teams and had them cost usually a considerable amount of points more. Players have to decide if they want to sacrifice some of their model count for a single character.

Breaking Down the Commissar

Severina is what you’d expect from a Guardsman model. Shes T3, hits on a 3+, has 3 wounds, and actually has a decent 4+ armor save.

Severina is only going to cost twenty points and is a named Commissar with two named weapons, Penance and Evenfall, and can auto-pass Nerve Tests for models within 6″ of her. Believe it or not, twenty points could get you a lot in a Guard Kill Team. However, one of the weakest points of the team is their morale.

Once they break, it’s almost impossible to get your men to regroup. The opponent has to withstand an unholy amount of shooting the first couple of turns. But once they start to kill off a few models, the Guard can quickly become crippled and break.

All in all, Severina looks to be worth her points. You just want to keep most of your force bubbled up around her. As for her weapons, the -1 AP is nice, but there’s nothing that jumps out as insane. Fearless Guardsmen spam is going to be something that most Kill Teams won’t be able to keep up with. Especially if the match transitions into the late game and you’ve still got models.

What do you think about the new Commissar model? Will you be using her with your Guardsmen-blobbed Kill Team? Is twenty points a fair cost? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
