Fans of Nintendo and handheld alike are in for some upsetting news, as 2025 looks to be the release year of the delayed Switch 2.
Nintendo’s Switch has been a revolution for handheld gamers, really being one of the first times that handheld could step up to console gamers with similar levels of quality and performance. Those looking forward to the initially rumored 2024 release of the Switch 2 are in for some bad news, as it looks like the launch is getting delayed until 2025.
Nintendo’s Switch 2 Expecting To Be Delayed Till 2025
The Switch has had a lot of success in its current 7-year run, which, for tech, feels like two decades. Existing through two generations of opposing consoles, gamers have been excited about Nintendo’s next step in the Switch’s progression. It looks like that 7-year run is going to be at least an 8-year one, as sources at Bloomberg article claim the earliest publishers will see the newest console will be March of 2025.

With the pushback of this console release, it’s looking to be a potentially bland year for releases on Nintendo’s schedule. Plus, it’s never great hearing a publisher say, at the earliest, meaning this could be pushed back much further into 2025.
It will be interesting to see if they have anything planned to compete with the other two titans of the console gaming industry that are a generation ahead, that is, the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.
