Need a wet palette to paint an army’s worth of miniatures? Army Painter’s wet palette is easy to set up and will help you save paint, time and master techniques like wet blending quickly.
Let’s follow through with Rob as he takes a look at the new product Army Painter released on December 7th. This wet palette may not be the most unique thing ever, however it aims to give us more for our buck without cutting out anything important.
Army Painter Wet Palette: $25
First things first, Rob goes through the website and talks about the contents of the product and the price tag. It comes with a clamshell-type case that is held together via an elastic strap. Inside there is a brush holder, 2 hydro foams, and 50 hydro sheets. There is also a painting guide and tool guide as an added bonus if you are curious about more things Army Painter.
Once Rob cracks it open we can see everything we saw on the box. The paintbrush holder just clips in the Army Painter brand paintbrushes. Another note is the Hydro Foam pieces are a little bit moist, perhaps they are coated in some sort of anti-mold formula.
So after a few weeks of using it, Rob comes back and tells us his opinions about it. The first note is that it is sealed. If you leave water and paint inside then use the strap it won’t leak if it’s reasonable. Also, the wet palette stays wet for a very long time. In the video, rob had left the paints in the palette for 2 weeks and it was still good to use.
Ease of use, customer service and availability are the three biggest things when concerning hobby tools. As far as Rob is concerned Army Painter hits it out of the park in all three categories. Even though Rob doest really use wet palettes, he does see the appeal of this and doesn’t doubt it will be widespread after the release.
