Get Better At Playing 40k: Juice’s Guerrilla Tactics

40k Tactics

Chris is running Blood Angels with a 1000 point battalion. It includes Terminators, three squads of scouts, Sanguinary Guard and Hellblasters.

Juice is featuring hive guard, Old One Eye, Swarm Lord, rippers, and termagants. At 1000 points, the game board is smaller. Both these armies have the ability to get at each other quickly, so deployment strategy is important. Juice is deploying in an L shape, protecting the characters in the back with a tight bubble-wrap, setting up one of these on each side of the board. Chris is deploying differently, sending one character off to hunt the Hive Guard while the others are set up in pockets of scouts. If he goes first, the character can attack the hive guard. If not, he can fall back into the scout bubble wrap in order to protect himself.

When setting up, use of command points and priority in combat, be sure to look ahead at what the next turn will look like. Do not be afraid to spend command points early to get off those awesome combos… such as being able to move across the table, charge, then swing a second time before consolidating into a unit of nasty shooters who will give you trouble later.

Being able to split your opponent’s attention and lock up a valuable unit helps you gain an upper hand in the game itself.

Regarding bubble wraps, sometimes you have to set up things to get a chain of events going that will peel away the bubble wraps. Target priority is key when getting to character models, especially with high powered units. You do not want to waste shots with your good units taking away bubble wraps directly if you can help it… save those shots for the character you are hunting!

Those are a few neat tips and tricks to get your game going! Be sure to check out the video below for more awesome tricks, as well as more in-depth discussion about the tips mentioned above.
