More Imperial Guard Alternatives to GW: Victoria Miniatures

More Top Imperial Guard Regiment Alternatives to GW: Victoria MiniaturesCheck out some male and female Imperial Guard regiment models that make great alternatives to Games Workshop miniatures.

Victoria Miniatures has been making great alternative models for a while now. This time Rob is digging into the infantry models, as he unboxes and builds Arcadian Guard (not Cadians), Border World Rangers (not Tanith First & Only), and the Penal Guard!

Be sure to check out the last review we did on some of her other Imperial Guard miniatures (like the not Vahallans) too!

arcadian women squad victoriaFirst up the Arcadian Guard 10 Woman Squad. He lays out all the bits to show us how each of these squads will come. Each set comes with two of each variant pose, so 5 different variants in the 10 unit squads. Most of the Victoria’s minis also follow a weapon slot system where the weapon just slots into the hands relatively easily.  This was how GW used to do it back in the day too!

arcadian assembledWith the model assembled, we can see the details in focus. Lines along the edge of the uniform and on the arms really stand out! We also see the weapon slot system here. You can just glue the weapon into her hands for a pretty solid fit that’s easy to do.

ranger victorian miniNext up is the Border World Rangers. Once again following the weapon slot system for the hands, this guy is super detailed. One thing that stands out in this guy versus the other models today, besides design, is his face! These guys’ faces and hair sculpts look better than most minis.

Penal Guard victoria minNext up is the Penal Guard with close combat weapons. The uniform and chains look great. You could tell what this guy is from a mile away. If you get creative you might even be able to use him as an interesting zombie model. Plus BOMB COLLAR!

penal guard rifleThe final unit we will take a look at is a variant of the Penal Guard except now they have rifles. You can see a slight warp on the barrel of the rifle, but considering these come from Australia and that is the only issue I’d say that’s a pretty good testament to the quality here.  Just dunk in some warm water or straighten it out with a little heat and you’re good to go.
