2 Faith & Fury Space Marines Rules Combos To Watch

Reiver H&S Wal Hor primaris space marine chapter

Watch out for these 2 Space Marines 40k rules combos that are coming inside of the Psychic Awakening Faith & Fury book.

Faith & Fury is bringing more to the table for Space Marines and even giving the Traitors a helping hand. So what are some great starting points for your Marines once the book hits? Here are some of the things we found for Raven Guard and White Scars specifically.

The Raven Guard Chapter Champion- Professional Speed Bump

The Chapter Champion is going to be an awesome Elite slot that’s cheap and can get work done. He comes base with a 2 damage power sword and a 5++ invuln which is nice. But if you make him a Chapter Champion, he gets a bonus attack and a -1 to hit.

Combine this with the Raven Guard Armor of Shadows relic, and it looks like you’ll have a Champion that can only be hit on a 5+ in close combat.

The Armor of Shadows: Any ap -1 becomes ap -0 when wounding this unit, in addition, 1, 2, and 3s to hit this model always fail.

If you’ve got a rampaging Knight in your face, just have this guy step out as a professional speed bump. The Knight will get a bunch of stomp attacks. But he’ll need a 5+ to hit you. Then you can always pop the Transhuman Physiology Stratagem for 2CP (out of the base Marine codex). This says- Any wound rolls against a Space Marine unit on a 1, 2, or 3 does not wound. That Knight will be having to stomp on this character looking for wounds of a 4+ with their feet.

In total, anything up close will be looking for 5+’s to hit and 4+’s to wound. All on a model under 50 pts with a 5++ invuln.

White Scars Can Do What Guilliman Does But Cheaper

If you’re in the market for all the rerolls in close combat, White Scars can get some of the rules that got Guilliman nerfed on a 100-pt character model. White Scars benefit the most by being in the Assault Doctrine, bringing basic chainswords to two-flat damage. Most lists we see are White Scars spamming Vanguard Vets with jump packs, storm shields, and chainswords. While they hit like a mini autocannon, they’re all still Strength 4. A mobile White Scars Chaplain with The Strike Off the Dead Litany gives a 6″ aura of rerolling ALL wounds, which is a cheaper platform for the rule that got Guilliman nerfed.

In the late-game turns, your Chainswords will be S4 -1 2-flat damage getting to reroll all hits and wound rolls. To throw in a little bit more value, you can pay the CP to make your Chaplain a Master of Sanctity, letting him know/recite an additional litany. If you really want the reroll wounds litany to go off (which you do) you can give him the Warlord Trait to reroll a Litany roll for free.

While these are just two combos pulled out of what’s coming in Faith and Fury, it’s easy to see that there is some real power in store. What other combos have you seen lying about? What Chapter do you play these days?
