Wow who expected this? 3 new Orks 40k rules datasheets were spotted inside June’s White Dwarf issue! There is one small catch though…
Coming from hobby hero Garro on Facebook, he’s got pictures of the highlights inside the new White Dwarf. This is the same White Dwarf with all the spicy new Harlequin rules as well, which we’ve already taken a close look at.
Now, here are the latest Orky datasheets to make their way into 40k. But before we get you too excited, they’re only for narrative/open play.
White Dwarf Has 40k Ork Characters & Named Unit Datasheets!
As we’ve said before, right at the top of the page, these were only designed with narrative and open play in mind. But starting, we’ve got a Goff character called Grukk Face-Rippa. This guy is a Warboss armed to the reef by Ork standards. The coolest part about this guy is his named melee weapon called Git-Rippa, which is perfect for making any Primaris unit’s day terrible.
Plus, you can reroll your wounds although being S12 with the weapon means you’ll just be rolling 1’s and 2’s most of the time. Too Tuff for Deff also makes this guy especially good giving him a 5++/5+++ save. That adds a lot of durability on a model that’s already T5 with 7 wounds and a 4+ armor save.
Foul Temper is Grukk’s special Warlord Trait as well. When you piss him off, he gets a lot better. All it takes is him suffering one damage to proc too.
More Named Goff Units
Next up, we’ve got a named Nob squad with Skrak as the leader. These guys are your basic Nob squad with just a few exceptions. Skrak has a helmet that he gores into his enemies, dealing a mortal wound each time he makes a successful hit roll in the combat phase. Plus, if they’re fighting next to Grukk Face-Rippa, they all add +1 to their attacks.
Finally, we’ve got the Goff Rokker. This dude is the Orky equivalent to a drummer boy with a guitar retro-fitted to shoot and be used as an axe. At the start of each battle round, you get to pick one of two music types for him to play. You can either add +1 Strength to everything within 6″ or make Infantry’s exploding hit ability proc on a 5+.
Now, none of these datasheets have any associated minis, which leaves it up to you to come up with some bits to make one on your own. While these characters might be meant for narrative/open play only, they are some pretty sweet rules to be added to the Ork line.
With these units covered, will you be kitbashing some stuff to have these new units ready in your collection? Would you like to see these make their way into matched play?
