It’s been two weeks since we’ve seen the announcement of the new Adeptus Custodes, and it has us asking if we’ll be seeing the previews starting soon.
It’s usually not long after Games Workshop announces a new faction that we start seeing the previews leading up to their release. But, are we going to start seeing the Adeptus Custodes previews any time soon?
Sources have told Spikey Bits that the minis that were on display at the New Year’s Open Day event were in fact resin masters, which could mean that the plastic miniatures weren’t done in time for them to show them off.
If these are in fact resin masters it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen Games Workshop use to show off the new minis. This pre-production resin miniature of the Taurox Prime was used in packaging and promo material all across GW’s site, and Weekly White Dwarf #9 even.
Notice the front track fender gaps, the front tracks canter inwards, there’s a resin material chip in the passenger track fender, the back tracks do not sit flush with surface, and the front grill is not on plane with the hood. In other words, this is not a plastic model.
This image can be found on the product page for the Taurox Prime, specifically the 360 view, as it looks like GW has since replaces the rest of the images of this sample in the years that followed.
If that is the case, and these are in fact resin masters, that could mean it might be a while before we see start seeing the release previews.
After all, we saw the big Death Guard reveal last March at Adepticon, and they weren’t released until August, almost five months later.
A Whole Lot of Gold?
Games Workshop does enjoy their middle Sunday of the month previews, so maybe we’ll see one today. What are your thoughts? Is it going to be a while before we get Adeptus Custodes previews? Or will February indeed be a month of Gold?
