Combat Patrol Description
The Black Templars are the most fanatical Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, always eager to face their enemies head-on and deliver the Emperor’s justice with a sword. Their fervor is so intense that they chain their weapons to their wrists, ensuring their bolters and blades stay in hand until victory is theirs—or they fall trying.

Primaris Intercessor Squad
A solid core of adaptable warriors who can lay down fire while advancing or holding terrain is a must-have for any tactician. For strike forces boosted by Primaris battle-brothers, this role is filled by the Intercessor Squads. With the ability to unleash overlapping volleys of firepower, these squads often form the flexible backbone of new Primaris Chapters. Established Chapters also love their versatility, deploying them alongside Tactical Squads.
Primaris Crusader Squad
Supercharged with Primaris power, these Crusader Squads charge into battle with bolt rifles blazing and Astartes chainswords roaring. Initiates blast jets of fire from their pyreblasters or land crushing blows with power fists, while tough Neophytes fight fiercely to prove their worth in the heat of battle.
Black Templars Marshal
Marshals lead their Black Templars from the front, showcasing the strength and skill of their warriors. These strategic masterminds boast centuries of battlefield experience, and their heroic deeds often earn them ancient artifacts from the Chapter’s vaults.
Impulsor
The Impulsor is a fast and lightly armored assault transport favored by Vanguard Space Marine forces. Using advanced gravitic-impulsion tech like its bigger cousin, the Repulsor, it has vectored thrusters for superior maneuverability. Its open-back design lets it quickly ferry a squad of Space Marines right into the heart of battle, dodging obstacles and dropping its deadly cargo where it’s needed most.

Is the Black Templars Combat Patrol Worth It?
Compared to the newer boxes, this actually has pretty decent value! When they first started making the boxes, it was right in the middle, but with the new boxes, this is looking better and better. The only real lackluster part of the box is a half squad of Primaris; you really want ten, but this can still help you build out a decent starter force and even get you an Impulsor!
It basically gives you the Impulsor for free, so if you need everything in the box, this is a great pickup.
What to Buy Next?
Well, considering you’re playing Black Templars to Crusade, you want more Crusaders and some Sword Brethren to help dominate the battlefield. Once you get some more ground troops on the table, you’ll definitely want to grab some Dreadnoughts and vehicles to pack some extra punch and knock the enemies off of their objectives.
There is also something to be said about just buying the minis you think are cool and building an army around them! Don’t forget to grab the new rules for this faction and brush up on how to play them. We’ve got you covered in this article!
The Black Templars Combat Patrol still offers a great way for new players to start building their armies and explore the Space Marines faction.
