Terra’s greatest warriors, the Adeptus Custodes, are being attacked by the terrifying Tyranids. Can the stalwart Custodes stand tall against the bugs’ unyielding hunger?
Juice and Lucus are back in the beats lab, going head to head with Astra Militarum and Adeptus Custodes battling the mighty Tyranids. The battle will be using Open War cards, drawing a 12″ deployment zone, objective Field of Glory (three objectives, one in each starting zone and one in the middle), and twist Orbital Debris.
Orbital Debris has each player roll three dice at the start of their turn. For each roll of a six, they may pick a separate enemy unit and inflict D3 mortal wounds upon it.
Lucus is leading the Adeptus Custodes, who are joined by the Astra Militarum. The Astra Militarum have a battalion, which includes troops carrying mortars and lasers, a Basilisk, two Wyverns, a Manticore, a Company Commander, and a Tank Commander. The Custodes form a Vanguard which includes: six bikes, two Shield Captains on bikes, two Vexilus, and one Vexilus in Terminator armor.
Juice is leading Hive Fleet Lexus into battle, using a battalion of Genestealer Cult, including two Magus, Acolytes, Neophytes. The Tyranid battalion comes with a Swarmlord, Termagants, Genestealers, Hive Guard, and three Biovores. The Tyranids are using hive fleet Kraken rules. Hive Fleet Lexus gains the first turn, and goes for glory!
Turn one, Juice rolls first and gets two sixes in Orbital Debris to do one damage to the Company Commander (warlord) and two wounds to a Shield Captain. He gets off several psychic abilities, casting Horror on one bikes and buffing some of his own. He takes over the Shield Captain and fires the Hurricane Bolter at a unit of Guardsman, killing four of them. The Hive Guard try to kill a few of the bikes, but only kill one. Three mortal wounds are done to the Lehman Russ. During the charge, five Genestealers and four Acolytes die but engage quite a few of the guardsmen. Combat is able to kill another bike and a unit of guard. The bikes strike back, killing Genestealers and Acolytes.
Lucus has survived the top of turn one, even with all the firepower going at the bikes. He is able to move out of combat and get set up to kill as many Tyranids as he can. The Basilisk takes down one Hive Guard model, wounding another. The Wyvern kills thirteen neophytes. The Manticore kills another Hive Guard. Two Vexilus and the Shield Captain charge the Tyranid Warlord, doing two wounds. He is able to kill off a few other models in close combat as well.
