Finally Some Good News From GW on Allocations

GW-allocationsAfter weeks of disappointment, there’s finally some good news from GW on allocations, well, at least for Space Marines…

After GW was panned so hard about the Pariah Nexus release they said those kits would be coming on their own in May.

So first off, that being true is a serious plus and shows they are willing to actually give out release dates if the community votes hard with their hobby dollars. They also seem to realize the Heavy Intercessors will sell like hotcakes and are finally giving stores enough to actually make some money on. So if you want a box of them, be sure to go to your FLGS and pick it up there.

However, on the flip side, if you don’t play Marines, well, your allocations are pretty much what they have been for the last five months very low.

For now, though, let’s check out what goes on pre-order this week, and then take a look at how many of each will be available, and round it up with our thoughts on the matter.

Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus $50

ad mech codex

Whether you wish to learn all about the Adeptus Mechanicus or seek to field them in battle, Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus is the source code you’re looking for. Luckily for you, it’s presented in a language you can understand rather than the binharic cant of its original form.

Of course, you’ll be able to pick it up in standard or collectors editions depending on your devotion to the machine god.

Datacards: Adeptus Mechanicus $25

ad mech datacardsTo help with your first couple of games, it may be worth picking up the Datacards so you don’t have to flip through all the pages and can have whatever you need to be separated.

Adeptus Mechanicus Dice Set $35

ad mech dice
You can also show off your devotion by picking up the Adeptus Mechanicus themed dice.

Combat Patrol: Adeptus Mechanicus $140

ad mech patrolIt features a Tech-Priest Enginseer, an Onager Dunecrawler, three Kataphron Destroyers (or Breachers), and a squad of 10 Skitarii Rangers (or Vanguard) – making a 20 Power Level force all for less than buying the units individually.

Normally these are also pretty valuable compared to getting them individually, so if you want some of the boxes, hop on it and pick up a patrol box while you can.  However, this just looks like the old start collecting box with a set of Kataphrons thrown in.

Skitarii Marshal $30

skiitari marshal

The only new model for the Ad Mech is the Skitarii Marshal, but he is striking quite the pose! I don’t think any troops will be able to dissent under his command.

Drukhari – Lelith Hesperax $40

lelithFinally available separately from the battle box, if you’ve been waiting to grab Lelith, now is your chance to get her!

Chronomancer $35

chronomancer

More models coming out of paywalls this week, this guy is available separately from the Priah Nexus So if you’ve been waiting to grab a Chronomancer, now is your chance!

Flayed Ones $50

Flayed onesAlso, finally available separately from the Priah Nexus, if you’ve been waiting to grab some Flayed Ones, now is your chance!

Captain with Master-Crafted Heavy Bolt Rifle $35

captain with master crafted bolter

Yup you guessed it the Captain and Heavy Intercessors are both available separately from the Priah Nexus, if you’ve been waiting to grab either of them, now is your chance!

Heavy Intercessors $60

Combat Patrol: Necrons $140

Combat Patrol necron

The Necrons set includes a choice of 10 Immortals or Deathmarks, and a Night Scythe or Doom Scythe, as well as a unit of swift Tomb Blades and an Overlord to lead them.

We thought they would be getting Necrons Indomitus version #52 for a combat patrol as their codex suggested, but it looks like we’re getting something a little bit fresher that contains all these multi-part kits.

Combat Patrol: Space Marines $140

Combat Patrol smMeanwhile, the Space Marines force comprises a unit of 10 Infiltrators or Incursors, an Impulsor to carry them, a Lieutenant in Phobos Armour to lead them, as well as units of 3 Eliminators and 3 Suppressors for some hefty fire support.

This appears to be the Vanguard Start Collecting with an Impulsor slapped in there. The jury’s out on the value right now, but we’ll be sure to do a breakdown shortly!

Start Collecting! Soulblight Gravelords $95

soulblight gravelords SCWith 20 Grave Guard and five Black Knights, you get a solid foundation for your army, and you also pick up the amazing new Wight King on Skeletal Steed (which is exclusive to this set at time of launch) to lead your deathless minions into battle.

Start collecting boxes are a perfect place to start or bolster an existing army, there are always decent savings packed in!

Dire Wolves $50

Dire WolvesThese ferocious predators serve the will of their immortal masters, racing ahead of all but the swiftest Gravelord riders to tear apart unwary prey with their slavering jaws. Available as a box of 10 miniatures, the Dire Wolves set provides your army with a vanguard unit that can speedily engage vulnerable enemies while your main host advances.

In the past, Dire Wolves served as a cheap and mobile distraction that can pick off weakened units. Hopefully, they will fill the same role!

Belladamma Volga, First of the Vyrkos $50

Belladamma Volga, First of the VyrkosOn the topic of Dire Wolves, the dread matriarch of the Vrykos Soulblight bloodline, Belladamma Volga, wields the power of the Lycancurse, enabling her to devolve her victims into these lupine beasts. Mounted atop Rothaback, a fearsome pack alpha, Belladamma is a master of sorcery whose command over Dire Wolves is absolute.

If you really like the idea of wolves running rampant, Volga might just be the HQ choice for you!

Radukar the Beast $50

Radukar the Beast modelIn light of ‘recent events’ (no spoilers here!), Radukar underwent a hideous transformation into a hybrid form of vampiric monster. Now known as the Beast, he tears through anything in his path with wracking claws and an unearthly strength.

Spoiler alert, this model is very good. We saw some of the rules earlier and he is most likely going to be on a lot of lists!

Kritza, the Rat Prince $35

New Model Monday kritza the rat princeKritza’s unique apotheosis nonetheless makes him a formidable asset to a Soulblight Gravelords army. In addition to possessing the hitting power of a supernatural vampire, he can disappear into a swarm of rats only to morph back into his original form elsewhere, making him nigh unkillable.

If a very hard-to-kill rat-man is more your speed, Kritza is your one and only choice! (Unless of course, you play Skaven)

Lady Annika, The Thirsting Blade $35

Lady Annika, The Thirsting BladeBy far the most bloodthirsty of a bloodthirsty species, Lady Annika is a whirling dervish of fang and blade once the gore starts to flow. Her slender blade passes on the strength of those whose vital fluids it spills to its maniacal wielder, ensuring Lady Annika’s blood-soaked rampages last as long as there are foes to slay.

At least with the Vampires, you’ll have your choice of the liter of malicious HQs!

Kainan’s Reapers $40

Kainan’s ReapersThe members of this highly aggressive warband get inspired by earning Tithe counters. They achieve this by killing their enemies and looting their bones for the choicest samples to take back to their master. They may have come in search of the Silent People first and foremost, but they’ll happily settle for the bones of anyone else who gets in their way, too.

Like we said before, at least there is some good news this time. The Heavy Intercessors can be ordered up to 30, hopefully, this means whoever wants them can get them and the secondary market scalpers will be done with them.

But, other than that, the allocations are pretty bad, with only 5 copies of the new Ad Mech codex and 4 Marshalls. Meaning if you want those, you better get on the preorder or go to a store early! Lelith and all the vampires are also being sent out in a pitiful number of 2 per store. the Flayed Ones aren’t seeing much love either with only 5 each and the Start Collecting Boxes didn’t fare much better…

Overall it’s better than before, but still not great. At least this time we didn’t only have negative news to report!

What do you think of the latest round of allocations from Games Workshop? Good, bad, or more of the same?
