New 40k Allocations Are Here For The Orks Release

GW-allocationsIf you have been waiting to pick up all the new releases for the Orks, GW’s Allocations aren’t too bad this time around- check out what’s on the way!

Looks like Pre-Covid allocations are coming for the new Orks releases this week. Let’s hope this trend continues moving forward with everything else.

For now, though, let’s check out what goes on pre-order this week, and then take a look at how many of each will be available, and round it up with our thoughts on the matter.

Codex: Orks

Ork 9th ed codexThis huge volume contains 61 new and revamped datasheets, and includes new rules for Crusade campaigns, Relics, Stratagems, Psychic Disciplines, and seven clans, including the piratical Freebooterz.

Of course in typical fashion, you’ll be able to get the codex in a standard or collector’s edition which features a full art cover. Just don’t wait too long as the collector edition is limited!

Combat Patrol: Orks

Combat Patrol: OrksSaturday also sees pre-orders open for a vast host of new Orks, including the long-awaited new Boyz kit, making their very first appearance in the new Orks Combat Patrol set. In fact, 24 of the 25 miniatures you get in this box are totally new – 20 Boyz armed with shootas, sluggas and choppas, big shootas, and rokkit launchas, as well as the new mega-armoured Warboss, his grot gunner, and three ded-killy Deffkoptas.

If you aren’t keen on the Beast Snaggas, luckily there’s still a ton of new “standard” Orks as well found in this new combat patrol!

The downside is it looks like you’re locked into a weird configuration of weapons: 5 Slugga/Choppas, 3 Shootas, 1 Nob, and 1 Rokkit Launcha/Big Shoota per 10 Boyz.

Beast Snagga Boys

Beast Snagga BoysThe Beast Snagga Boyz have been sighted on their own for the first time, and with two Strength 5 attacks in close combat at -1AP each, these ornery fellows are rowdy enough to give even a Plague Marine the yips.

Of course, if you do like Beast Snaggas, then this is a great week as all the models from the Army Box are now available as individual kits, alongside new releases as well!

Beastboss

BeastbossThe Beastboss is a monster in close combat, with a fighty aura that gives other Beast Snaggas in range an extra attack – and check out the targeting squig on his back.

The big man in charge, this Ork is sure to help lead your army to victory. Especially if it’s a Beast Snagga force.

Zodgrod Wortsnagga

Zodgrod WortsnaggaZodgrod Wortsnagga is known for two things – his dubious belief that grots aren’t a waste of space, and that tremendous barnet.

If you have grots, or like them, this model will be perfect as he allows them to shoot and perform actions in the same turn.

Squighog Boys

Squighog BoysSquighog Boyz are partial to a medium variety of squig, all the better to blitz headlong at whoever they’re fighting and duff them up on the charge. This set, again available on its own for the first time, contains five models – three regular boys, a Nob on a Smasha Squig, and a Bomb Squig.

As a fantastic new cavalry option and perfect thematic options for Beast Snaggas, this unit is probably going to see plenty of play with fans of the new sub-faction.

Battlewagon

BattlewagonIt’s a question that’s befuddled Orkish philosophers for millennia – Battlewagon, Bonebreaka, or Gunwagon? You can now wrestle with this eternal conundrum for yourself, because the existing Battlewagon kit is being repackaged to include the upgrade sprue that lets you soup it up with a deff rolla or a kannon.

Upgrade sprues being added to old kits is often overlooked, but rest assured this is a super nice update, especially for new players who don’t realize they may have to look elsewhere to make the kit they want. Look like that is no longer the case for the battlewagon! Solid value on GW’s part.

Ork Dice and Datacards

Ork Dice and DatacardsOf course, the faction is also getting themed dice and a set of data cards to help speed up the learning curve.

Big ‘Ed Bossbunka

Big 'Ed BossbunkaThe Big ’Ed Bossbunka is a new Fortification for the truly discerning Warboss, delivering a Gaze of Gork that hits like a truck** and a loudspeaker that boosts the big guy’s aura abilities.

All in all, this is a simple terrain piece that helps to power charge da big Ork in charge!

Good News From GW on New Orks Allocations (sort of)

Listed to the right of each product are the 40k allocations numbers (called “caps” now from GW) to stores from Games Workshop North America.

orks new boyzLike we said before, at least there is some good news this time, as a lot of the releases are 30 each.

The only things that are getting highly allocated are the Battlewagon and Bossbunka. Hopefully, this means whoever wants them can get them and the secondary market scalpers leave this release alone!

  • Ork Codex: Cap 15
  • Battlewagon and Bossbunka: Cap 2
  • All other Ork releases: Cap 30

Overall it’s better than before, but still not great. With the codex at 15, we still think most people will be able to get it. The items that are allocated to 2, well, those could still go to the scalpers. At least this time we didn’t only have negative news to report!

What do you think of these Orks allocations from Games Workshop? Do you wish they had more of some items?
